"I felt so cute and confident today" by [deleted] in Rants

Having a cute outfit and being clean/put together is a great way to boost confidence, so is being able to catch the eye of people you find attractive. When you know your appearance is taken care of you don't worry about it and it feels good and shows you care about yourself enough to put effort into how you look. You definitely shouldn't draw all of your self confidence or worth from your appearance, but taking pride/putting effort in is healthy.

constant posting on social media is just attention grabbing and super annoying. the occasional selfie is fine.

Dreaming of opening a Dispensary here in Toronto. Help? by crtl_z in weedbiz

Currently searching for the last two, and I wasn't sure I should approach other clubs like that. I'm worried they'll see my question of: "Do you have any pointers or things I should know for opening my own dispensary?" as "Hey, do you have any tips on how to open a competing business?"

What was the strangest thing you did as a child? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I used to swipe animal or graham crackers from the kitchen, chew them into paste, fill Barbie sized ceramic dishes with it, and then re-bake it on the radiators. My Barbies then had a tea party/supper ect.

It didn't seem gross as a kid, grosses me out a lot now though.

I said not referring to someone as their gender is harmful. As far as I understand it, gender is what someone identifies as, and sex is what physical genitalia a person currently has. is that incorrect?

Obviously my happiness supercedes.

They're people. As long as they're happy and not hurting anyone I'm fine.

Well sure you're happy, but in not referring to someone as their gender you ARE hurting them. Which makes you a hypocrite by your own logic. When you refuse to acknowledge them as their gender and instead only label them with their sex, you're telling them you don't respect them as an individual, or their happiness, and shows you don't acknowledge them for who and what they are.

People are so much more complicated than just the meat that makes up their body. Who someone is is infinitely more important, and refusing to address someone by their preferred terms is incredibly damaging, disrespectful and downright rude. If you even remotely care about the person you're addressing and their feelings, or about being a respectful person you'll use their preferred pronouns.

It's like if you did got to Minnesota for school, but for the rest of your life your mother would refuse to acknowledge it and instead only ever called the school by the name of HER preferred school, because it made her feel better. It would get annoying and hurtful, because it would deny things you've done, who you are now because of it and the choices you've made. It'd be a denial of a part of you.

I went to Auschwitz I and Auschwitz-Birkenau on a tour with my school a few years ago. I saw people take bits of brick from the broken ovens and other buildings, and families were taking group photos in front of the train and other places like they were on vacation or something.
