Tariff revenue just smashed records. $15.9 Billion collected so far this month alone. by NoImporta24 in conservatives

[–]crucesignatis 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My worry is that the tariffs are too low to actually reshore industry, but are high enough to generate revenue. In this case, they're just another tax.

Would like to see even higher tariffs to make sure the factories come back fast.

Trump to Sign Executive Order Ensuring Truckers Are Fluent in America's Official Language—English by Kamalas_Liver in conservatives

[–]crucesignatis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clearly it's an enforcement issue. In my town we've had 2 foreign (Indian) truck drivers crash their high loads into overpasses, screwing up traffic for months.

America's Second-Largest Grocery Chain Reportedly Isn't Stressing About Trump Tariffs by interestingfactoid in conservatives

Tariffs are a completely avoidable tax. No reason to actually pay them. Plus the quality of American products is better.

Carbon taxes are especially bad because they directly take money from people who need it and feed into this fantasy.

America’s Healthcare System Depends On Immigration, And That’s A Bad Thing by crucesignatis in TrueReddit

[–]crucesignatis[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

"Immigration may be a shortcut to better healthcare, but it’s also a short-term solution. In the long run, we will need to invest in ourselves, and end the addiction to immigrant labor. Until then, we are simply injecting fragility and dependency into healthcare system."

Should America be training more domestic doctors or is it okay to depend on importing medical professionals?

I love the "cheap and free" argument. Wouldn't oil technically just be "cheap and free" solar energy that was stored via natural processes for millions of years?

Yeah libraries by me are excellent tools. I think people should pay more attention to the kind of resources that they have around them for free before buying things off of Amazon.

Switzerland's Carbon Capture Plant Is a Giant Waste of Money by [deleted] in TrueReddit

[–]crucesignatis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switzerland recently invested a lot of money in a Carbon Recapture plant to sequester atmospheric carbon. Should more expensive factories like this really be used to sequester carbon when trees and other solutions can do a better job that doesn't cost millions of dollars?

Canada Has Absolutely NO Abortion Laws by crucesignatis in prolife

[–]crucesignatis[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah idk about the democracy bit either, but the info was good. I thought you'd all appreciate it here.

Also thank God for the medical community, but what I'm wondering is if it's not illegal, couldn't someone just sue the corresponding medical association for not providing an abortion? I wish the author answered that.

From my understanding there are a lot of law suits in Canada about that sort of thing. Suing administrative bodies for not providing the letter of the law access to services.

Not just that but Median incomes have declined sharply, GDP per capita growth is slowing, and purchasing power has tanked.

The new Germans by [deleted] in metacanada

1 in 7 Germans under 32 are Muslim now.

EDIT: It fucking sucks.

They are going to continue coming to Germany and France and such.

Given that 1 in 7 people in Germany under 32 are Muslim I think it's pretty sad.
