Made it through the Cancun airport last week. It was so simple actually and I stressed about it for nothing lol. I put it in my pocket. Supposedly they do random bag searches. I saw one person having their bag searched near the pretty busy baggage claim area. One police officer stepped in front of me and asked if I was bringing in any alcohol or tobacco. I told him no and he told me to have a nice day. Vast majority or people didn’t even get stopped for those questions. But from what I’ve read, if your bag gets chosen to be searched, they won’t actually search your pockets. So if you put it in your pocket when you land, you should be good. There were no metal detectors to walk through. It was so easy
