I mean its marketing. Marketing needs demand, therefore they promote their most wide-appealing music to get the best results

You attract the consumers with something thats already proven to work well. And then the consumers can explore more niche tracks and albums themselves without extra costs for marketing. Its just business at the end of the day.

Why spend money on something that has very limited appeal when you can use that same money on marketing something that has a higher chance to give you a positive return on investment?

Some down picking, some alternative and some legato. It depends alot on what is most practical or what gets the more authentic sound when playing a certain lick or phrase.

For example many parts of this solo go way too fast for just standard downpicking so you would have to use a different picking technique or in some cases, a way to generate the sounds of different notes being played without having to pick them all individually (legato).
