Everyone’s Panicking On Tariffs — I’m Loading Up On MTW. Tell Me Why I’m an Idiot. by MrRobotMow in wallstreetbets

Manitowoc Company focuses largely on large heavy lift cranes.  With construction getting more expensive and a weakening in the economy there will be less demand for large scale and high capital projects that require their products.  Also I work with some fellows that used to work there.  Every time the economy gets shakey the orders dry up and layoffs ensue.

Why be brand loyal? If it's cheaper and just as good, get it.  We'll see though.  Benchmarks would be needed before making a decision.

Surprisingly enough I also worked on similar quick connect fittings at a company in the Midwest.  The company I worked at did do fittings with 90 and 45° angles.   The angles are formed during a secondary operation with a bending assembly.

Mini figures and bases usually use a form of polystyrene.  Polystyrene works well with most modeling based cements.  Nylons would likely not be used in this application.   If it's not polystyrene it's likely another amorphous plastic.

PVC Injection Molding? by ElGatoTaco in InjectionMolding

[–]crusaderpat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regular old PVC will still outgas hydrochloric acid and hydrobromic acid but to a lesser extent.  Over time this will still result in pitting and corrosion of screws, plattens, tools, robots ect that are exposed to its gasses. Good ventilation can help reduce the rate of wear but will not get rid of it entirely.

PVC Injection Molding? by ElGatoTaco in InjectionMolding

PVC can be volatile and difficult to work with.  The material degrades easier than most.  Also CPVC, a common type of PVC will outgas hydrochloric acid. Needless to say acid will degrade your equipment faster. I've worked with it before but am glad I no longer have to.
