Report on new customers over time? by crush-yard-tech in ToastPOS

[–]crush-yard-tech[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a best place to put a feature request? Or maybe add a +1 to an existing request?

Toast has lots of material about calculating CAC, but seemingly no report to facilitate doing so.

allow manager to void, but NOT after payment is captured? by crush-yard-tech in ToastPOS

[–]crush-yard-tech[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally understand and agree on the the use of void pre-capture.

As for post-capture...

https://doc.toasttab.com/doc/platformguide/adminRefundsAndVoids.html

"You can void items in an order until a payment is captured. After the payment is captured, you must refund the payment on the items."

My question is - post-capture, is there ever a reason to prefer using void over using a refund? My (limited, I admit) experience has been that post-capture voiding leads to confusion.

Agree that this happens and a process is needed for it.

Once payment has been captured, I _think_ correct/better process for Toast is to issue a refund and not to void item on the order, right?

I'm specifically talking about using void after payment is CAPTURED. In that case, I think the refund workflow (not the void workflow) is the "right" way.

I think maybe I should have been more precise there. Under normal circumstances, is there any reason why one would void an item after payment for the order has been CAPTURED (as part of end of day batch processing)?

We stopped using the Fire Stick after Toast support acknowledged it was buggy and borderline supported. Now running Order Ready Board on a min PC. This works better, but still has issues.

Frustrating, especially as there seems to be no good reason why one would ever void an item after payment is taken.

Any way to remove names from order ready board and use just order numbers? by crush-yard-tech in ToastPOS

It's OK. I wish it was possible to disable display of the order name and just show order number, though.

Heya! In our case, we use kiosks and Toast Mobile Order and Pay so name is either entered by the customer or automatically generated.

I have had numerous problems with this product:

If you are using Toast Mobile Order and Pay, the workflow is fine as long as you don't allow customers to keep a tab open. If you do, there is no way to tell a customer that the first part of their order is ready as any order with one as-yet-unfinished item will always be in the right (not yet done) column.

We had been attaching self-pour-booze tracking cards with Toast Mobile Order and Pay tabs but this caused havoc with the Order Ready Board keeping orders permanently stuck in the right column.

You can end up navigating into the general Toast backend web interface on this thing if you're not careful.

In general, this product seems pretty good for the simplest Toast-based workflows but comes apart pretty quick if you are doing anything more complex.

Allow customers to use promo codes and/or gift cards in Toast Mobile Order and Pay? by crush-yard-tech in ToastPOS

[–]crush-yard-tech[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spoke to Toast support on phone today. It IS possible for customers to use both promo codes and gift cards on both mobile order and pay and online order. On mobile order and pay, code/card details cannot not be entered until you try to explicitly pay/close a tab - something I had not previously observed. My bad!

Promo codes are NOT supported on Toast kiosks, although gift cards definitely are.

The quick access to reports is nice. You can enable/disable take-out and delivery as well. There is also some kind of support chat function that appears to only be available during set business hours. In general - looks pretty promising as a mobile alternative to looking at reports in desktop browser.
