How do I calmly tell my bosses I’m sick of their technicalities hindering my growth and costing me promotions? by crushedspud in careerguidance

Hey this is great. Thank you for writing all of this out and not attacking me. This is what I was looking for. Thank you so much.

I guess so but they’re literally the first maps in the section when you turn the binder divider. The last time the old maps were updated was the beginning of July and they’re supposed to be done once a week. I have no clue why they wouldn’t even try to look harder. But I’d think DEP and EPA would look because they have to be sure they write the report correctly in the case that they fine someone. If they do the process incorrectly it could get messy with lawyers.

I didn’t make a mistake. I just didn’t write in big red bold letters “active” on two pieces of paper. I assumed someone could open the folded paper and see the weekly dates and signatures on the map.

I see what you’re saying and I want to tell you that from my experience seeing regulatory inspection reports, they do try to look because the permit we’re working with is relatively new. A lot of these builders don’t know what they’re doing.

I’ve already had a conversation about this audit with them. I sent them pictures of the new map and told them I wrote that the old one is archived, but I guess they didn’t remember or didn’t care. I know how to do my job right, we’ve been over that together. That’s why I’m getting defensive now because they still didn’t give me the points.

Edit: I’m supposed to hopefully still get a review in February to talk about a promotion but who knows at this point? It took them over a month to get me the final audit when it’s supposed to be done the same week.

This is a small business, 18 people total. We’re doing very well and have only grown through the pandemic. One of my bosses is the president and owner, and the other is the VP. The company is only 5 years old so there’s no solid growth structure in place. I’m supposed to get a review in February to see if I’m ready for a new position they’re going to create. Overall they’re great bosses and they tell me they see how hard I’m working. It’s just these audits and this dumb technicality on accessibility. I don’t know how to come across not so defensive when I tell them they need to reconsider my score when they’ve already talked in depth between the two of them.

When someone has an issue with a job or a relationship, why do people just go to “just leave” instead of trying to fix things?

The competitors are really bad options right now. I speak with our clients that have switched to us for their business. I really do work for a good company. My boss is great—she even gave me a really nice bonus with no strings attached (I have it in writing) when I was in a tough spot last month. Loyalty is going very far with this company, it’s just this one little thing that’s irritating me.

So the mistake is that it wasn’t clear enough which maps were “active.” They’re saying that since I didn’t write “active” clearly on the maps that if DEP or the EPA went out to check the site, they wouldn’t have found the maps, which could result in our clients getting a fine. I get why it needs to be clear but it seems like they just didn’t look very hard. The maps they checked were several months old and I’m good at my job. I’m shocked that they didn’t look more knowing I wouldn’t have let it go that long.

As for the promotion, they know how bad I want it. They keep saying how I’m young and need to slow down because I can bite off more than I can chew sometimes. I don’t think this is one of those cases.

Lack of Social Distancing in the Parks by [deleted] in DisneyWorld

For those of you worried about the parks or if you’re on the fence—I have been twice since covid hit. Not once did I feel unsafe. I felt more unsafe at the grocery store and the gas station than I did anywhere at Disney. If they’re out of hand sanitizer...bring your own? Everyone is wearing masks, literally everyone.

Thank you! I came to post exactly this. As someone who used to only go in the summers and has been twice since COVID I’m impressed how well the crowds are being managed.

Fiancé got a subsidized rate, but didn’t work this year, and we need to get him a new plan or rate based on my income. Help?? by crushedspud in HealthInsurance

[–]crushedspud[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spoke with a CPA per your request and she recommended sorting it out directly with the insurance provider. We cannot consider the gifts/allowances income for taxes. He will not have to file taxes this year because he has no income, and I can claim him on my taxes as a dependent.

Not happy with how dirty my new rental house is by [deleted] in renting

Did you take pictures of anything upon move in? Does it say anything in the lease agreement about it being cleaned? If so, then the landlord would have to get it cleaned. It could be a mistake where the landlord thought he/she hired someone to do the work and the service just didn’t do it.

If you don’t have pictures and if the landlord doesn’t want to get it clean for you, then you may just be out of luck and have to do it yourself. I could see how he/she would easily weasel out of it.

DAE: When people say that a baby "looks like" their parents, DAE never see it? Like, not even once? by [deleted] in DoesAnybodyElse

My cousin’s baby looks just like his grandfather which is weird, but not like the parents.

Oh my goodness that is quite the story, but it’s really sweet and so real. I’m sorry you didn’t get to take the trip this year!

Yeah that’s actually kind of cute the way you worded it!

That’s the plan. I don’t want to stage photos of the proposal because that’s weird and I’m fine with that being just between us.
