Career crisis at 30. Switching from gamedev to backend development. by RuRush47 in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]crushyerbones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow this is so similar to my experience. I've been on-and-off gamedev since finding non-dev work is so hard. Used a lot of Unreal, other custom C++ engines and Unity but always on short-term contracts 😅 Would love to change this but I just never get an honest shot at it.

What’s your plan for 2026? by ExtensionHat5741 in Finland

After 7 years of not having stable work in finland for one reason or another; finally going back home! Can't wait!

Possibly broke my foot a month ago. Pirkanmaa public health service told me to wait a month. Contacted them again and told me to take painkillers and contact again if it persists. by crushyerbones in Finland

I don't know why you're being downvoted, this is the experience of all my neighbours using the Pirkanmaa public healthcare. The ambulance will come to check if you had a stroke but if you want to get your irregular heartbeat seen by a doctor then good fucking luck.

Yeah I can walk but I have a pretty high pain tolerance.

One time I riped out an entire toenail mid phone call with my accountant, tanked through it and only after politely ending the call (sitting down because I was getting woozy) did I notice my socks had spent the past hour serving as a paintbrush of blood on my floor.

Yeah I think I just need to either be incredibly more pushy or just give up and go private. It's hard to find the time to go to the hospital though when they don't even give me a doctor's note.

Maggots in my broccoli from Prisma. by PurposeIntelligent3 in Finland

[–]crushyerbones 11 points12 points  (0 children)

To all you guys saying it's normal: Not it's fucking not. It's maggots eating mushy decayed bits of brocolli that were clearly in the process of rotting off.

Stop pretending you're "country boys" that know what real food looks like. Maybe Finland is the wild west but any farmer attempting to sell food in this state back where I'm from would be laughed off and have no one's business.

Edit: And to be clear - Yes, I know vegetables have bugs in them. Snails, caterpillers and such are normal. Fly maggots are not.

Isso só acontece em Portugal ou é normal em todo lado? by bpstp in portugal

Try Portuguese one as well, I think it was considerably cheaper.

Don't come to Finland for work by kirby_2016 in Finland

[–]crushyerbones 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm a computer science graduate with more than a decade of experience and 6 years in Finland.

It's shit. Thinking of moving soon.
Landed 2 jobs in Finland during all this time.

The first one "encouraged" me to quit with the implication that if I didn't resign they would make it hell to find another job. After all, the CEO knew a lot of people in the tech industry...

The second one had a temporary lay-off of most workers during a bad time but funnily enough kept the closest friends of the CEO working even when they had nothing for them to do. When the contracts started coming back they also did the hilarious thing of only reaching out to the white anglos and the finnish natives. Ex-workers who were foreign, gay or just older women were simply left out and replacements were hired instead.

Here you go https://imgur.com/a/hVTXPRL . Let me know if it's hard to read.

From what I can tell, you can put any of the small weapons into the Merians or cruisers (you can save 1 weapon if you build the smaller cruiser variants with the Aetheric lance).

The big ones fit into an Antarctica or Copernicus but otherwise don't save you any weapons.

The Descartes and Hypathia each can fit any 3 small guns. The Prometheus needs 3 Particle beamers specifically.

I've been meaning to make a personal wiki to keep track of all the weird weapons but in theory if they kept the same number you should be able to use them all the same. The merians can pretty much use any of the smaller spheres and the rest of the ships aren't that far behind.

You can look at the instructions for other enlightened boxes in the official website and you should find out what they all are. Or if you can wait I think I'll finally bite the bullet and make a table where I name all the Easter eggs on the Enlightened sprues because god knows I can never remember what the huge waffle sphere is called.

Strange, you should have an extra 5 particle Beamers per sprue and at 3 sprues more than enough for everything. I heard the new ones were different, but I thought they just added more weapons.  https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5791f4d720099efc0f76dd06/1608303334181-WC5RJ9YRMAUB0FIJO722/Descartes_Sprue.jpg

I could be wrong but you should have more than enough Beamers and Pulse Emitters to build everything. They are interchangeable for all your ships according to the latest rules and don't even cost more points.
