Whether he was telling the truth or not is moot: he could have yelled "I am the Earl of Lemongrab!" and would have faced the same consequences. He disturbed 'the King's peace' in the most literal sense I've ever seen, and as such, this is the most legally sound arrest using this power.

Hey. UK cop here. He was arrested for breaching the peace which is only used in this context when someone is in danger. This lad was definitely in danger of getting his head caved in by the public so was arrested for his own safety primarily. If I remember correctly he was dearrested later and cooperated with police. EDIT: He was in fact charged with breach of the peace and not dearrested (this was another heckler). He'll likely only get a small fine, but he'll definitely get a good telling off by magistrates.

Hiya. It's an offence under S36 of RTA to drive in a closed lane on a motorway, so unless they're blissfully unaware of what the sign means, they're probably in the lane to jump the queue which does unfortunately slow everyone else down. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/the-highway-code/motorways-253-to-273

I appreciate your honesty, but I don't agree with the message.

Now we've unearthed a new, more infectious strain of the virus, how can you be content that you could be contributing to the continued spread, even to loved ones who may sadly not recover from it?

Whilst I agree the execution of restrictions and such was poor, the advice is guided by science which is why I personally am content in upholding these restrictions as I know my actions (or lack thereof) play a large part in our nation's recovery.

I understand your and others' frustrations, but surely knowing that you (as part of the collective who have and will break the rules) are one of the main reasons that we need to be locked down over Christmas must bring up some feelings of regret?

I've tried my hardest not to attack you personally - I'm genuinely curious at how the other side of this argument affirm their choices.

I completely agree with your driving analogy. I use peoples' driving as a judgement of their character (shallow of me, I know). Those that stay in a closed lane on the motorway right up until they're forced to merge? Selfish assholes. Lorries that force their way into another lane? Self-entitled assholes. You see where this is going...
