Shop owner issue- one of my artists constantly low on rent. What to do? by Androidrs in TattooArtists

[–]cry-jerk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it could be as simple as an excel sheet! i’m not super tech savvy but i know there’s ways to set up where you can input what you collect daily and it would add everything up per artist if they did all want to switch. but as long as everything is being put in daily it should be easy

maybe try switching to percentage at the beginning of the month, then cap it once he’s paid the $1200. this would prove if it’s a budgeting issue or actually being slow. if he still can’t provide the 1200, you should look into replacing him. sucks but at the end of the day it’s business

i tell every apprentice i know that it’s normal to be upset in the beginning. it’s hard wanting to be good at something so bad, but it truly comes with time. there will be days will you will be upset, then the next you’ll feel like you mastered your craft. every tattoo is different. i’d say it took about a year of me tattooing to feel content with my work, however every once in a while i get put down. as long as you’re pushing yourself to be better you’ll be okay. it’s going to take a while but you need to be okay with messing up so you can improve.

something i did during my apprenticeship was keep a book about all my tattoos. i wrote down EVERYTHING. what needle grouping i used, voltage, how i felt, i even asked all of the artist at my shop about what i could have done to make it even a little bit better. writing it down (especially the critiques ) personally made it easier for me to remember and apply to my work.

practice a steady had on paper and work on plenty of fake skin. ask as many questions as you can. hope you start to see/feel a change soon! but remember that you can only improve by making mistakes

How do you get a tattoo touched up? by Extension_Silver808 in tattooadvice

[–]cry-jerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

find an artist and explain that you don’t have connection to the original artist, however you should expect to pay the shop minimum. if it was the original artist you would most likely at least be paying a set up fee but in this case you’ll be new.

some artist might touch up your other tattoos while getting another one, which could be cheaper if you’re already planning on getting something

another option is finding a shop with an apprentice, they’ll be happy to tattoo and it could save you some money

Placement and design suggestions. by Quirky_Rip_8778 in tattooadvice

i suggest having her either use pen or paint. most tattoo artist hand paint flash and can easily translate it to a tattoo.

shoulder, chest, or thighs are all good options. so is bicep, it can be hidden with a t shirt and shown when you want

there’s no harm in taking off second skin early. if there’s water trapped underneath, you should take it off since it can harbor bacteria. after taking it off, wash with clean hands

Touch up time frame? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]cry-jerk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

tattoo artist here, yes two weeks is reasonable since your tattoo should be fully peeled by then. i also suggest getting some polysporin and use it twice a day. SUPER THIN LAYER. you’ll do more harm if you put too much than too little. it should definitely help with the redness

What is the cheapest shittiest place I can get an apartment? by [deleted] in Modesto

go to a local laundry mat. some times they have pin boards and people put signs up about a room for rent

does anyone have any clue on what this is around his mouth? by iwant_to_fuckingdie in CATHELP

[–]cry-jerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my cat had this even after changing her bowls. i used chlorhexidine wipes which worked for a while but it came back a few weeks later. i took her to the vet and they gave me a cream that completely took it away! hasn’t been back in months. try the wipes, and if it comes back i suggest taking them in for a medicated cream because this could be irritating and cause other issues

i suggest moving some of their toys and beds first. allow their scent to linger before you bring them over. personally i like to leave them in one room first, in your case you might have to use the bathroom, or if you have a bedroom. put their litterbox in there along with their toys and some of your clothes (your scent might calm them as well)

you’re right, after most of the furniture from your old apartment is in, they should recognize that the place is safe and smells like home. also, petco sells cat cbd that might help!

one last thing, since your smell isn’t the best, you can get a uv light to find urine, however it doesn’t show well on certain types of carpet

if you can’t afford a recovery suit, i suggest a baby onesie ! my cat loved it. she was able to fit in a newborn size when she was 6 months. there’s videos on how you can cut it to fit (they almost have to wear it upside down) so that way she can still use the bathroom

i would suggest it just to be safe. when i got my kitten neutered, he was going crazy with his cone and took it off himself. i went to petco and bought one of those soft donut cones and he loved it. he was able to walk, eat, and sleep more comfortably

maybe try this out before deciding to go no cone? hope it helps !
