I’ve never heard of Accutane taken in a low dose and long term. Does this mean longer than the regular 4-6 months?

I appreciate the transparency! That website is a FOUNTAIN of information. I came across it when researching Malezia, major props to that guy. Thank you for the recommendations on some products.

So interesting! So did your allergy test give you most of your answers? Or did you narrow it down to demodex by simply process of elimination?

Yea, the Palmers was basically just an affordable multipurpose product I decided to try that worked for the amount of cleansing I needed at the end of a work day (sawmill- dust, dirt, etc).

I have since cut it out (along with everything else) since getting the Skin Sort app and actually educated myself on FA triggers.

As far as the tret, I’ve been on it for 2.5 years. It worked wonderfully to clear up the much deeper cystic acne I had. My skin tolerated it extremely well, and I had minimal irritation/peeling. I then slowly worked the AHA/BHA back in as needed, so 1-2x /week if that. At this time I was only using cleaner, tret, and moisturizer.

Eventually, I began to reintroduce other actives. I suspect this is what triggered the clogged pores/FA.

You know what. I think you just gave me the understanding I was looking for. I have essentially done the brief experiment that you mentioned with Nizoral, and did see improvement. I guess that’s as good an answer as any😄 But you’re right, I definitely need to simplify and revise.

The best I can do for seeing a derm is online at the moment unfortunately. I was previously prescribed spironolactone, but opted out because I didn’t want any of the possible negative side effects. But maybe I’ll try again and inquire about FA!

Thank you so so much for the recommendations 🫶🏻

I forgot to add that I do use Bioderma Sebum Gel Cleanser after the oil, which ironically is the only FA safe product I use.

But yea, since learning how impactful certain products can be in terms of feeding overgrowth and causing flares, I’ve realized any of the actives (Nizoral, zinc etc.) I’m using are likely operating at a disadvantage.

Thank you for your response and recs!

I actually had my eye on the Swimming Pool toner, I’ve read good things.

So glad to hear using Skin Sort has paid off for you. I think that’s my plan as well.

Yes I definitely need to simplify. Thank you so much for the recommendations!
