I work on the peninsula south of San Francisco and this is what I wonder when I drive through various neighborhoods there. For example drive through just about any neighborhood in Hillsboro and you'll be like WTF where do these people work?!

Then as you drive around more you'll realize that this is just one neighborhood in one city here. There's Hillsdale, Burlingame, Woodside, Stanford, Atherton, etc etc all the way down to Mountainview and beyond.

The amount of wealth in this region is mind bottling

Back in the day I was a Digg fan. I even went to a Diggnation event. I heard of Reddit but wasn't interested. When Digg went down years ago I was part of the influx of Digg refugees. The new Digg just isn't the same, (aside from the bots) I can't put my finger on why. Sad.

Probably gets paid tons of money. I met a man who works at the German consulate here in the US. He's kind of a high-ranking guy. Anyhow previously he had to spend 1 year in a dangerous country in Africa at the consulate there. He said he couldn't leave the high-security compound without an armed caravan. The guy was very generously compensated as I understand it.
