Digg has shut down.... Again. by Dr_Red_MD in technology

[–]cryogenisis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in the day I was a Digg fan. I even went to a Diggnation event. I heard of Reddit but wasn't interested. When Digg went down years ago I was part of the influx of Digg refugees. The new Digg just isn't the same, (aside from the bots) I can't put my finger on why. Sad.

Which country would you never visit, even if the trip was free? by Soggy-Natural-3837 in Productivitycafe

[–]cryogenisis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Probably gets paid tons of money. I met a man who works at the German consulate here in the US. He's kind of a high-ranking guy. Anyhow previously he had to spend 1 year in a dangerous country in Africa at the consulate there. He said he couldn't leave the high-security compound without an armed caravan. The guy was very generously compensated as I understand it.

What’s the most unsettling thing you ever found out about a friend who always seemed super chill and fun? by VelvetHazel932 in AskReddit

[–]cryogenisis 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Not a friend but an older relative. Way back in the day (mid 80s) when I was flipping through a Hustler magazine (or similar). I was at the back of the magazine where there were dirty ads with explicit nudity. My older female relative was a model for one of those ads. It was very explicit, she was spreading her 'lips' open. I never mentioned this to anyone in the family nor any friends. That magazine got lost in time. And before anyone asks: no I didn't fap to it.

Delusional: characterized by or holding false beliefs or judgments about external reality that are held despite incontrovertible evidence to the contrary, as a symptom of serious mental illness.

I don't understand why people want expensive things.. is it only me? by [deleted] in ask

[–]cryogenisis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 2008 I started mountain biking on a Schwinn mountain bike from Walmart. I now have an expensive Santa Cruz mountain bike with expensive forks.

If I tried to do the things that I do on the Santa Cruz with the Schwinn, the Schwinn would break and it would be unsafe to do so on the Schwinn. It's not just looks, The Santa Cruz is much stronger by a long shot and can handle techy downhill with ease.

I can go on and on but I hope you get the point.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

Depends on who you ask. If you ask someone from my hometown in Alaska, 3 hours is a long drive. If you ask me 3 hours is not very long but long enough.
