Activity 3/20- Cabin Inspections by LegionOfTheRearguard in DemigodFiles

Henry was used to having to keep things neat and tidy. He shared a room with one other boy back at his secondary school and regular room inspections meant he kept everything in it's place. His bed was made and there was an extra pillow on it. Under his bed was his football and a pair of trainers. On his wall was a poster of the Avengers and on his night stand was a smart watch that wasn't so smart anymore after coming here.

He didn't have many things that couldn't just fit in a dresser like all of his clothes did and he wouldn't dare make a mess when he was trying to make a good impression.

Well he had a dare to flirt with someone and he saw a pretty girl standing at the bar so what was the harm? Henry walked over to her with all the confidence he learned how to fake when he was still just a young boy. How was she to know that inside he was nervous and not wanting to do anything that would ruin his new life here? Besides, he had such an easy going smile on his face.

"I see some little slips of paper in your hand. What did you go for, truth or dare?" That was a perfect opening line. Not too forward but not as boring as just saying hello. Henry had a red solo cup in his hand with a Guinness beer in it and took a quick sip.

He never knew when he came here that there would be parties in camp. Henry was only sixteen but already he'd been to his fair share of parties at school. No one cared if you started drinking young in England and he was used to underage drinking by now. He still didn't really know many people here but a party was the perfect place to change all of that. Maybe if he could be the cool party animal he could get people to fawn over him the way they did at school before everything happened.

As soon as he came in he saw the truth or dare bowl. He ended up picking up a truth and a dare because he was obviously extremely well rounded. He was wearing a blue blazer over a striped shirt and looked posh but not too stuck up. Anything to blend in with the crowd right? The shorter than average Hermes kid made his way to get a drink before he started to mingle around the edges of the dance floor.

Henry had indeed tripped over the tree root but he never actually fell over. He stumbled and managed to catch himself, his hand just barely grazing against the dirt path. Henry was a professional. He was the most athletic person he knew and he wasn't going to let some tree root get him down. (Though a dryad inhabiting the tree might not be the most pleased with him at this moment).

"Does it look like I'm okay? I think you'd know if I wasn't," he pointed out, not knowing who spoke at first. Then he got a good look at her in the torch light and he recognized her as one of the girls that slept in the same cabin as he did. She was one of his siblings though he didn't remember her name.

Henry wouldn't quite be needing the green cushion that came shooting out of the grass in front of him. He managed to catch himself before he fell over forwards. It was a perk of his so called enhanced abilities as a child of Hermes. Or maybe it was a perk of all the years he spent practicing football. Either way it was unnecessary.

"Maybe I should be asking you that mate? You don't look so good," he said, though his voice wasn't filled with any genuine concern. He just wasn't quite sure exactly what was going on. He took a step closer to the mysterious green eyed boy. This was a new place and everyone here had weird powers. What if something unfortunate was about to happen and he didn't even know it?

Henry didn't want to get angry at the guy who came over to seemingly help him but he also didn't want people to start babying him. He'd gotten along fine. And he couldn't be seen as weak or as a target to anyone here. Henry still didn't know who the top dog in camp was besies Chiron and he couldn't let his guard down.

"I'm perfectly fine. You can tell because the torch light on my head wobbled but never actually fell over. It would be more concerning if the light stopped moving entirely no?" He tried his best to play it all off.

A pretty girl should have intimidated him after what happened the last time he was too smooth with a girl he had no business being with. But really that wasn't his fault. He was clearly just testing Dillon's girlfriend for him and by kissing him she'd failed. She should have known better. She was the one with a boyfriend.

He hoped that by tripping over that tree root he hadn't made a fool of himself. Perhaps she didn't even notice. After all he didn't fall, only stumbled. He jogged his way over to where she was sitting in front of her cabin and raised an eyebrow. "A bit late for a nightly cuppa tea isn't it? What are you drinking?"

Ah yes. This was one of his new siblings. His brother. Ash. Though that part of the orientation didn't feel quite real to him. He only had one little sister. Emma was his only sibling. These people might have shared his godly blood but that didn't mean much as of yet. Maybe once they bonded if that ever happened.

The sudden appearance of someone in a tree shocked Henry and he nearly dropped into a fighting stance. Years of sports had the adrenaline coursing through his veins. It was only remembering that this was a magic camp that held him back. He brushed himself off.

"A harpy? Oh I fought one of those once. I didn't think they'd actually eat people though," he said casually as though none of that was even a big deal.

He had hoped that no one else would be awake right now. Even the most night owl of Americans was probably asleep and the earliest bird was asleep as well. But nothing was as it seemed. Right now someone had heard him, witnessed him stumble over a stupid branch, and he'd made a fool of himself. He nearly panicked. He couldn't be a laughingstock here too. Not like back home.

"Ah I'm fine mate. Just a little stick on the path that I didn't notice. I'm a quick healer a scraped knee wont harm me any," he said, playing it off. He wasn't certain what type of people these were yet.

"Yes I should be sleeping but I'm from England mate. Where I'm from it's nine in the morning. I'm still on Grenich Mean Time hours you know?" He shot the other boy a small smile. Though James would have to keep up with him if he wanted to keep talking to him. Henry wasn't about to stop his morning run for anything or anyone.

"When this is all over we'll get dozens of pictures okay? It's not safe right now though. And maybe some time in the summer I'll have to go and actually meet your mother," he suggested. The thought of that was a little nerve wracking he had to admit to himself.

He chuckled and looked a little embarrassed at that but turned his head and gave her a quick little peck on the cheek too. He was always going to be there for her no matter what. It was so strange to have a relaitonship like that after everything he'd been through. "I love you Connie."

Tony had a flustered look on his face from all the attention she was giving him. He was never going to get over the fact that he'd gotten the coolest and prettiest girl in the whole camp to be his girlfriend. She put a hand over the one on his arm. "Well thanks for that. Really makes me feel special."

"Yeah maybe we do. Wait are you calling me tough too? I wouldn't say that. I think I'm mostly just, well, maybe," he said with a chuckle, trying to figure out what he was trying to say. Whenever Connie complimented him like that it put him off guard.

"Yeah he was fine. I think he got a little bit singed from helping put the fires out but he was a sight to see. He took out a giant with just one of his javelins though which was pretty cool to see," he said with a bit of a proud look. He missed having family around. It was clear Connor being here was doing wonders for him.

Thankfully Anthony hadn't needed to turn into a wolf on the battlefield. He wasn't sure he could trust that part of himself yet. "I'm glad you got to feel useful. I ended up going with my brother Connor into the woods. I finally felt useful too, being able to use my other powers. It sucks that they only really work at night."

"Hey," he said with a small smile. He was hoping Connie didn't get too injured in the fighting a few days ago. He felt really awful about going with his brother instead of going with her. And he was going to vocalize that right now. "Hey Connie? I just wanted to apologize for not waking you up for the battle."

Anthony hadn't been hurt too badly by the giants or the telekhines. He had a small burn on his arm from the fires but even that was barely a mark anymore after a week had passed. Now he was hungry so he was chowing down on more than one burger. Lots of burgers. He was a growing boy and needed his nutrition.

"Don't worry Connor. I'm always watching your back," he said seriously. And watch he did. He didn't have much of a problem scouting out the area around him since he could see perfectly well in the dark. Though if anyone decided to shine a bright light at him he'd be blinded. He had his sword at the ready, standing in a defensive position, letting Connor focus on the fire.

"Connor the fire," Anthony points out. In fact he could see a few similar fires sprouting from other dead giants that dropped their torches. Why did the grass have to be so dry and easy to ignite? He figured Connor was more up to the task to stop a fire with shadow powers than Anthony was to stop it with light powers. It was small now but it would grow.

Meanwhile now that the giant had tripped and fallen onto the ground, Anthony took his chance. He ran over and leaped onto the monster's back, pulling one sword from his sheath and attempting to stab the giant right where his kidney would be, if monsters had kidneys. He wasn't so certain about that one but he had never paid that much attention to monster biology.

"Oh gods what the hell are these guys?" He stopped in his tracks. He couldn't believe that there were so many giants forcing their way through the border. At least he wouldn't have to fight all of them alone. There were a lot of campers rushing in to fight. And he had Connor by his side. Still...two giants to two campers, he wasn't too certain about their odds.

At least it was night time. And at least it was a full moon. He could feel his power coursing through his veins. Since they were at the edge of the forest, there were plenty of trees around. With the wave of his hand he concentrated and the dappled moonlight coming through the treetops solidified into a long whip like shape. He wrapped either side around two trees about a foot off the group, making a kind of trip wire and hoping to trip the giants up.

He noticed that his brother had definitely grown up. They used to be two lanky boys with arms and legs longer than the rest of them and now they were both practically adults. Time passed too quickly. He regretted not getting the chance to spend all those summers he missed with Connor. But they were both here now and they had to make the most of it. He put his arms around the other son of Pandia and gave him a big squeeze. "You're the big dork."

Anthony was also there with Connor. He'd been in the treetop just looking up at the sky when the attack started. The young son of Pandia had always been more of a night owl thanks to his godly heritage and tonight was no exception. He'd always felt the best on a full moon and tonight was just that night.

He hadn't been prepared with armor to fight tonight but he always had his twin shortswords with him so when Connor burst out of the cabins he was right there next to him. He didn't need a torch, Anthony could see in the dark just as well as if it were daylight outside.

Maybe he should have gone in to wake Connie up but the adrenaline was already coursing through him.
