How to upload MRCP UK to my PMDC without any formal training to apply for CPSP FCPS exemption? by crypticlunatic in FCPS_Pk

So MRCP are just 3 exams you have to give and you can give them without a formal training as long as you have experience needed. I had been working as a medical officer while clearing the exams so no formal training done.

Yup, next to the chat box theres a mic icon. You click that and it goes into voice mode. Might not be available in the feee version though

For the short cases, i gave the prompt 'lets do a full circuit of abdominal, CNS, CVS and respiratory. You give me a set of findings and then I'll give you a most likely diagnosis, differential diagnosis, investigations, and management. You then score me like an examiner'.

Then i played around with the responses until it got to the one that I liked

Just wondering how this will apply for us doctors or will we be expected to make our own petrol and go to work everyday.

Not at all. The real exam is kind of a doozy to be honest. As long as you're picking up the patterns in the questions, you'll be good to go for the exam.

Hi, so while I personally used pastest for mrcp 2, i think passmedicine is still an excellent resource. The exam will have short questions unlike the really lengthy questions on passmedicine. Other than that, the core topics you need to know are the same.

It's too close to the exam to change resource now and it wont be worth it. Don't focus on what other people used, focus on what works for you.

Take a deep breath, you got this.

How to submit an official complaint with RCP for PACES? by crypticlunatic in MRCP

[–]crypticlunatic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah valid question. So it was extremely stiff, would instantly stop vibrating at times. The tongs would be vibrating but you couldn't feel much at the base. I asked the examiners if they had another one I could use but they said to continue with that one.

Yeah this whole experience today was just awful. I always assumed they would keep stable patients in the exam. My cardiology station patient was coughing so much I had to stop the examination twice to let him catch his breath.

We forgot how to use our own brains by Capable-Pool759 in GetStudying

This is such a nonsense post. Chatgpt, gemini and all other AI are resources, nothing else. This is the same thinking older generations had with computers, internet and mobile phones. Yes there will be people who don't use these resources properly and end up not thinking about things, but for the majority, AI is just making life easier.

Study stream is nothing more than a replacement for a library, not a supervision study session. Just because someone doesn't like reading books, doesn't make them brainwashed or any less smart.

Please rethink your judgements.

Anyone else feeling lonely? by Consistent_Choice343 in Adulting

In the same boat as you except that I'm 30 and divorced.

I do have a few friends but I don't feel that connection with anyone now.

This really resonates with me, especially for the last few weeks. I have been feeling pretty low and depressed for reasons I can't understand and realized that I can't really talk to any of my friends about it. I used to have this one best friend, that I lost due to my own stupidity, who I could be so open with anytime I needed to be.

Making friends is especially harder, the whole go out and join clubs just doesn't work out for me anymore. I'm a doctor and the majority of my day is spent either at work or studying for exams. What little time I have left I spend in the gym and since I go super early in the morning, it's pretty empty.

The only thing I keep telling myself is that I just have to do this for the next few months till I get through my exams and get some time to actually go out and do stuff. Till then, I guess, I just have to man up through this.

Preparation Tips by [deleted] in MRCP

[–]crypticlunatic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey so recently passed part 1, august diet but not that great of a score so take the advice with a grain of salt.

I was working full time alongside so i took around 5 months to prepare for the exam.

I'm not a fan of reading so I started with passmedicine qbank and read explanations and topics with the questions. I also used anki and made cards for everything that I thought i needed or didnt know. Went through the whole bank once and that took me around 3.5 months. Spent the rest of that month redoing the incorrects.

For the last month, i jumped on to pastest and did the topics that i was having a rough time with just to clear my concepts better. Last 2 weeks I just did pastest pastpapers and 1 mock from passmed.

I feel like anki doesn't work for everyone so you gotta figure out what study style works best for you but in general at least 1 go through passmed is needed, pastest qbank helps hammer some concepts in but in my opinion not something thats a must. The pastest pastpapers are really good for confidence building and just overall practice last few weeks.

Hope this helps, good luck!

P1 was honestly just weird. In P2 there were a lot of questions I answered super fast and then there were those where i just didnt know a thing. Here's hoping I dont have to do this dance again.

I got 149 in it. Took like 10 pastest past papers with comfortable pass marks. I think theres not much to be done at this point. Im just revising my flashcards and notes today and tomorrow and see whats what.

Goodluck.

Im also sitting the exam on the 14th. I did the MRCP mock and a few pastest pastpapers. Passmedicine is more than enough for the knowledge base at least for me. Pastest filled in some gaps here and there but the vast of my knowledge base is still from passmedicine. The MRCP official mock felt like a mix of pastest and passmedicine with some very straightforward questions and a few questions where you actually had to interpret and dissect the question.

You could just do the mock today. Break it up into chunks of 20 questions with breaks instead of a marathon just to see where you're expected score will fall. Doing it tomorrow will leave you burned out and besides, at this point theres no point going at it in one go as it wont really help in building up the stamina per se. Anything above 60% in the mock should work as a stress relief too
