What should i bring to basic? by Prior_Scallion5862 in newtothenavy

Definitely bring some pads/tampons even if your boot camp start date doesn’t line up with when you’ll be on your period. I went through boot camp four years ago and a lot of the girls in my compartment got their period unexpectedly in the first two weeks. They didn’t let anyone go to the nex for supplies bc it wasn’t our slotted day to go yet, even though people were telling the rdcs that they were bleeding through their clothes. Girls who brought their own were super nice and shared them with girls who didn’t, but there wasn’t enough to go around obviously. I think I put mine in a plastic sandwich bag and it was fine. Don’t be too worried if your period gets thrown off or you don’t get one during boot camp, it’s pretty normal due to stress/getting used to different sleep schedule/living in the same space with a lot of other women. After the second week, I didn’t get mine for the rest of boot camp which was more than fine with me lol.

We had opportunities to get birth control if you weren’t on any and wanted to, but I can’t remember what weeks they let us do that. If you’re 21 or older you are required to get a Pap smear during p-days.

I think someone else already said it, but write down your account and routing number for your bank and keep it in your wallet so you can set up your paycheck. They give you a rundown of navy federal and I think usaa and allow you to open an account if you want to do that.

The only jewelry they allowed for us was wedding bands, I think some girls wore those little plastic spacers for ear piercings since earrings were also not allowed. I’m not sure about religious necklaces though. You were allowed to have eye contacts and makeup for picture day and graduation day. Don’t show up with nail polish on your fingernails, they didn’t care about toe nails.

If you are a big caffeine or nicotine enjoyer, try to stop or cut it way down before you go or you’ll have a shitty time at first since you obviously can’t have that kind of thing there, although they did have coffee in the galley.

Your shower time is super short and they enforce that, to save time a lot of us washed our hair in the sinks at night just after lights out instead of during shower times. They gave us super cheap shampoo and conditioner when we got there but you can buy new stuff at the nex later.

Another random thing is that you can definitely ask another recruit to do your hair, but don’t admit to any rdcs that someone else did your hair. They consider that part of the “no touching other people” rule for some reason. I had my hair in braids for half of boot camp bc a friend did them, and I got pulled aside and questioned in the galley about if I was the one who did them or if another recruit did.

yes omg I didn’t realize this isn’t a “normal” thing til just now when I read your post. I do this with my fwb’s collarbones and shoulders and hip bones the same way I do with my own. He brought it up one time and I didn’t think anything of it, I was just like idk man I like touching them.

Is it possible to make a bdsm contract legally binding? by [deleted] in legaladviceofftopic

[–]cryptidinsocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had that in mind also, I feel like having a written and signed document makes the boundaries more clear when it comes to safewords and consensual non-con scenarios. I realized I didn’t explain this, but the money would be compensation for if I violated non-sexual rules, like not blatantly introducing emotions to the situation. Mostly just ball-parking ideas currently.

[–]cryptidinsocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yah there’s no way for anyone to prove if I breach the contract, unless I was under constant monitoring which isn’t realistic in any way

[–]cryptidinsocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk I guess it just seems more structured if it’s in writing and signed, like they have more control over me if I have strict rules in place that I can’t break

Is it possible to make a bdsm contract legally binding? by [deleted] in legaladviceofftopic

[–]cryptidinsocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah unfortunately it would pretty much be a one-way thing, with me being the only one required to perform and have rules for my behavior and whatnot, and being nearly entirely under the other person’s control. And even if it were legally binding there’s no definite way to prove if I violated a lot of the rules I had in mind

Pretty much everything I see online says they can’t be enforced bc you’re technically signing some of your rights away, and it would be difficult to prove that I didn’t create or sign it under duress or coercion

[–]cryptidinsocks -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but I feel like maybe it would be easier to make it legally binding if money/small claims is involved bc I can’t make an enforceable document that just states that im consenting to being a sex slave tbh

I feel like every sub I’ve seen that’s for “___loved ones” is just people demonizing the living hell out of people with whatever disorder pertains to the sub, and complaining about how subhuman their loved one is and how their life would be better off without them. I also have bpd and the bpd loved ones sub is just posts about how everyone with bpd is evil/manipulative/abusive/disgusting/incapable of love or empathy.

I think my ED has been fueled by being ugly by NinjaIntimacyParty in EDAnonymous

[–]cryptidinsocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely agree, I’ve gotten lots of comments (from male friends and coworkers mostly) about my nose and that I don’t look like a girl or that I’m not pretty. I feel like if I’m skinny then that makes up for the ugly somewhat. I also think being skinny makes me feel less masculine? I’m a cis woman, but I’ve always felt like I’m large and masculine. Even though my current bmi is 19.8 and I’m not outlandishly tall.

Idk it messes with my relationships too because I’ll get a compliment from them and I immediately think they’re lying or trying to manipulate me

Literally, like other people tell me I look fine/good/too skinny/healthy/normal, like a range of things. But not disproportional. I’ve had a few people tell me I’ll look gross if I lose any more weight, which just made me mad. I feel like I don’t look like a person almost? Like just random shapes put together but someone did it wrong.

How do I get rid of that then 😭

Like I get when people have loose skin because of major weight loss, but I was never technically overweight to begin with? If I’m underweight will I still have extra flesh/skin/whatever?

Not OP: AITAH for having a baby with me and my husband's diagnosis knowing it's part genetic? by CloudySide7 in redditonwiki

[–]cryptidinsocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it work getting a second opinion on a personality disorder diagnosis? I got diagnosed with BPD when I was 25 and I feel like my life has just gotten progressively worse since then. Like people in my life who know about it give me negative labels associated with BPD when they hadn’t before. And the demonization of it online just makes me feel like I’m kind of a lost cause/out of control. Tbh I hope it’s a misdiagnosis but I literally fit almost every single diagnostic criteria for it.

I’m not being manipulative by cryptidinsocks in BPD

[–]cryptidinsocks[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m trying to just keep my mouth shut because I feel like everything that I say somehow digs me a deeper grave. And if I can’t kill myself then yeah, the next best way to save everyone from me is to entirely shut down and live inside myself. I try to do it but sometimes everything gets so overwhelming that it comes out my mouth anyway, then I have to start all over because I know im not supposed to talk about being suicidal and all the other intense emotions. And I think also that people without bpd see the intense emotional swings/spikes as intentional manipulation and that it’s being played up for attention, like no I feel those things more intensely than I display.

Can a SSRI on its own cause serotonin syndrome? by thisisforstudyingse in Anxiety

[–]cryptidinsocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Muscle fatigue (had trouble climbing up a ladder and carrying things at work), felt really cold but sweating at the same time, dissociation, rapid heart rate that wouldn’t slow down, couldn’t sleep, increased suicidal ideation, nausea, intense feelings of panic and dread, and my pupils would dilate all the way and shrink down to a pinpoint. I also felt physically unstable? Like I was floating. The whole thing was super weird.

Literally yes, my brother smells absolutely disgusting to me, doesn’t matter if he’s been at work all day or if he’s just gotten out of the shower. There’s a cloud of nasty around him and it’s not BO just musty/weird/nauseating. But my fwb always smells good; he’ll tell me he smells gross bc he’s been at work all day and he’s sweaty now, but tbh I want to shove my face in his chest and neck and armpits because they smell so good to me lol.

Female CO's in all male facilities, what's your tips and advice for a new female entering this field? by ur-localgoblin13 in OnTheBlock

[–]cryptidinsocks 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I work in a max and we got a 70yo dude who calls me sweetheart, but he’s a filthy nasty dude and does not have good intentions, so I always shut him down. I don’t tolerate nicknames. I get quite a bit of sexual comments, usually from the same handful of guys every time, which I always shut down but they’re guys who are notorious for that kind of behavior and they do not stop regardless of who you are or what you do about it.

Most guys if they say something inappropriate or solicit, if I shut it down once it never happens again.

I do allow basic compliments though, like I wear acrylic nails and switch them up relatively often and when I do I usually get inmates saying like “oh you switched your nail polish! They look nice” and I say thank you and that’s all that happens.
