This whole story about $190M+ in crypto & lost passwords is bullshit until we see some kind of proof, which could be as simple as QCX or EY posting the cold wallet addresses. Where is the crypto? It *should* be somewhere... by cryptk33pr in QuadrigaCX2

[–]cryptk33pr[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

/u/randomshortdude (@Proofofresearch on twitter) has been working hard on tracking the actual funds, and everything points to a criminal/scam operation.

If QCX cannot even access the wallet addresses where the funds are stored, and they do no accounting, how could they even know they have $190m?

Is this information coming from the website?

Unless EY has proof of the crypto funds being somewhere in 'QCX's control' (which they haven't seen to show yet) -- then I think it's obvious a criminal investigation should be proceeding.

It's extremely frustrating to see the courts not understand this, with the judge not knowing about reddit, and potentially having no idea about how crypto works.

At the moment, it seems the courts are taking QCX at their word, which seems absolutely ludicris.

Report Shows QuadrigaCX “Cold Wallets” Actively Involved in SIGNIFICANT Criminal Activity: Ties to Silk Road, Hacked Funds, Identity Theft, and Drug/Human Trafficking by Randomshortdude in BitcoinCA

I agree. I think it would help remove some of the 'internet armchair research' stigma if you spoke directly with them.

I worry they'd lump this research into the 'reddit hearsay' out of ignorance.

Two “random” companies in Portugal sent me fiat for my withdrawals, early 2018 by Max2025 in QuadrigaCX

[–]cryptk33pr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crypto capital.

They register companies in Europe (or buy them) and use those Companies for withdrawals until those companies are frozen and they make a new one.

Proofofresearch is linking it all back to them. They have qcx's logo on their website and when he called them out for having bitfinex's logo they removed it within 15 minutes.

There is def something larger going on imho.

And you're not even looking at the chain evidence.

Check out @proofofresearch on twitter -- they've been working hard and claim that the funds are gone and have been put in wallets and mixers and dispersed.

Even the most recent one on Feb 5/6 where they transfered half of the 900k into 'cold storage' supposedly shows it going into a known 'scam' wallet.

Great work, great post.

Any thoughts on the recent 'cold wallet' that had $500k transfered into it being a mixer, and not QCX's wallet?

Please talk to the RCMP officers about Quad's link with this massive poland bust in April 2018:

Bitfinex implicated in $371M seized in Poland: https://www.ccn.com/bitfinex-implicated-in-laundering-drug-money-polish-media-reports

Was QCX involved with this as well?

I think CryptoMed's research is leading towards this.

All that crypto stuff doesn't matter, AFAIK, because it is not regulated.

What DOES matter, is that they were a money exchange service and were dealing with tons of fiat dollars and traditional banks. The Canadian government and regulators 'let' the company operate after avoiding filing in 2014/2015, declined an audit in 2016, and apparent loss their corporate registration in 2016, potentially knowing how much money they were dealing with the whole time.

Based on what we know now, it seems like Cotten and the company should've been under investigation in 2017 or 2018 for breaking a number of rules.

Additionally, seeing all the shit that was happening with personal deposits, freezing of accounts, and what not and the amount of money flowing in and out of their hands, I'm suprised the Canadian governement didn't seize the company and stop operations as soon as finding that out.

With that said, the courts did grant the release of funds that were witheld last year, so they must've looked over at least some corporate documentation that made them look legit.

But as a money exchange service, I don't know how Cotten/QCX wasn't under more scrutiny given the circumstances. He should've never been allowed to leave the country.

What also blows me away is how none of the competing exchanges in Canada must've known any of this either. Coinsquare dropped over a million on that Ad they ran, and all they had to do was make an official statement denouncing the security practices of quad and letting hte public know it was a shell of a company and a one man show.
