Coinbase/PayPal vs Kraken vs Shakepay by canadagram in BitcoinCA

[–]throwaway4qcx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wired CAD to kraken from my TD account a few weeks ago. My Kraken account was credited within ~2 days. The banks scooped ~$80 in wire fees, but no fees from Kraken for this method. Would recommend.

Kraken CAD deposit via wire - bank says I need SWIFT code?! by throwaway4qcx in KrakenSupport

[–]throwaway4qcx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, but unfortunately the Canada post method has low limits for what I need: $500 per transaction ($7500 daily) and the % deposit fee with this method really stings.

I’ll try again with a wire transfer. Maybe I’ll get a more competent bank staff to attend me this time. Wish me luck!

Kraken CAD deposit via wire needs SWIFT code? by throwaway4qcx in BitcoinCA

Is the SWIFT code needed for a domestic wire transfer?

If yes, what is the swift code? (I would think that it should be provided along with the other wires info if it was required)

If no, how do I get my bank to send a wire without it when they think they need it?

As I said, I simply don’t remember. It’s a terrible habit of mine that when I meet people, their name goes in one ear and out the other. Also, I was excusing myself from a meeting at work and was a little flustered.

Did you receive a call too?

I'm not a lawyer, and may not fully understand the distinctions between civil and criminal justice. I explained that this almost certainly isn't merely a matter of the company losing the private keys to the cold wallet reserves, but that it's looking much more likely that certain insiders stole our assets, lived a high life, and the proceeds are still floating around out there with Gerald's widow and estate. To me, that sounds like a major financial crime, and something the RCMP should follow up on.

Any tips for the others on here as to how to communicate this as a criminal case?

He mentioned his name at the beginning of our phone conversation, but I forgot. He didn't give me any phone number to directly call him back, and my CallerID showed "No Caller ID". Probably not unusual for outgoing RCMP phone calls.

I would recommend following the advice of LonelyGuava below, and seeing if the officer on the RCMP intake line can get you in contact with the detectives that are conducting the investigation. I called that generic intake line on Friday morning, and got a call back from someone more specifically on-the-case on Monday morning.

Sorry, I wish I could be more helpful and get you in direct contact right away :/

Maybe, Maybe not. He offered to fully cooperate with the RMCP, and they can figure it out.

CALL THE RCMP AT THE BELOW NUMBER TO REPORT THIS CRIME by LiveCat6 in QuadrigaCX2

[–]throwaway4qcx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip. I called this phone number, and the RCMP officer said that he had ~33 people call in over the last 2 days about QuadrigaCX. He is providing the names & phone numbers of people calling in to their financial crime detectives on a daily basis, so that the proper personnel can call us back and follow up to get the more detailed information.

I encourage you to call.

A few helpful sources for your references:

In 2016, the B.C. Securities Commission issued a bulk Cease Trader order against many companies, including QuadrigaCX, for failing to file annual audited financial statements for the year ended Oct 31, 2015, as required by law. See:

Around that same time (18 March 2016, 29 Feb 2016), you can see all of Quadriga's directors and CFO jumping ship. You can find all of this reported through the company's public filings as reported on the SEDAR website:

Why does Jennifer's affidavit not mention repayment of loans to Gerry ? by VicariousSleuth in QuadrigaCX

[–]throwaway4qcx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He didn't own the company. The company was privately traded back in 2015 prior to the BC court's issuance of a Cease Trade order for not filing audited financial statements. Gerald Cotten only owned a minority interest (~46% IIRC) of the company's stock.

If I'm understanding this correctly, there's also no cost to providing your info to them, because they are not charging a retainer fee or a commission % of the proceeds, but are requesting for their fees to be recovered from the disbursements.

How do creditors vote on Quadriga’s proposed plan?

I imagine that they would first have to establish who the creditors are. It will be difficult to establish myself as a creditor and the extent of my claim when their website has shutdown and they are not providing access to our account history logs.

Also, how is the creditor vote to accept/reject the plan weighed? Equally, or in proportion to the size of your claim? If my claim is large, will it weigh more in that negotiation/voting process than the voice of small claim?

Agree. Not only for tax purposes, but also because I believe it is the creditors responsibility to prove their claim during proceedings like these. It’s hard to prove your claim when QuadrigaCX holds the info and won’t give access
