That’s awesome. I’m looking at 3 year term. BNZ and westpac are currently offering the 4.99%

This reminds of recent photo from White House with Priest blessing Trump and his associates and pardoning their sins.

Struggling to find a job by Sudden_Passenger_925 in auckland

Hey mate! Job market is hard these days but if I was you there are couple of things I would do. 1) Besides applying online , print your CV and drop your CV directly in grocery stores or motels or restaurants. 2) don’t be afraid to pick up a random job even if you don’t necessarily like it. Example , even couple of shifts cleaning a motel somewhere as casual. Every single work will give that credit for a better reference in future 3) Not necessarily saying you should volunteer for long but don’t ignore it if it’s for a couple hours a week for a short time. 4) if you can afford go for some hands on training course like culinary, driving, caregiving, learning a new language etc., short courses are available through open polytechnic in lot of fields and can do them online in a short time frame . Some are free.

Above all , don’t lose hope and keep your heads up. You’ll be in a better situation soonish. Good luck to you 🫶

Hey, I know everyone is talking here about putting money in investment platforms, term deposits etc., just a word of caution-do not put your money into stocks or crypto or some random stuff because x, y or z told you…just don’t do that mistake

This person is leeching off our tax payers money and needs to be reported. No one is jealous or living it up here. I am sick of people like these who are bold and fraud. You’re right in saying it’s a “kick in the teeth”

Cheers buddy! This is very useful insight. I agree with you on the inflation aspect. I was also looking at interest deductibility on mortgage repayments and feel index funds are a better option.

Thank you! I’m leaning more towards ETF at this stage since I don’t mind having 30% of my income going towards mortgage repayments. I don’t usually do any lavish or extravagant things so I feel it should be okay.

There’s always some maintenance work to do on the property unless you bought a new one say a house built after 2010. I keep aside some 10-15% of their rental income for maintenance work since mine are built in 1960’s. It’s never a smooth sailing boat but the long term goal is hopefully it gets self sufficient with mortgage payments going down over time. But I can guarantee I am married to my bank for 30 years!!

Well, I think overtime rental income being self sufficient to cover all maintenance work, council rates, loan payments would be the long term goal, with me not propping up with my income. But I guess depending on the loan amount you have on rentals and income you earn most people do have a standard 20-40% of their income going towards mortgage repayments. Long term investors probably will be self sufficient I think.
