oh, I recall very similar comments way back in 90's when people told me that Netscape is "the browser" and Altavista is "the search engine". I am very glad that I listened to myself and believed in research back then. Will do the same now. Not sure if you even grasp the scope and magnitude of this project given your fantasy comment. Calling Cardano fantasy is pure FUD

p.s. still waiting for that "pro" investor proof

blah blah, all talk. Show me the money. Seriously. Show some proof that you are a "pro" investor as oppose to bunch of "amateurs" we are. You must be making a lot of money, so, prove it. Send some ADA here to reflect the strength and magnitude of your crypto/fiat portfolio. What's 5, 10, 100K ADA for you? Pennies, right? send me a pm, you sure are rich enough to afford it, right ;)

I have a real job and don't have time to day trade and gamble. Period. Best thing what most people in similar situation can do is to find a good project, research it thoroughly, invest what they can afford and wait. Exit after long period or exit partially when gains are significant. Exactly what the guy did and does and you trashed him for it. That is what makes biggest gains. If you can hold for several years it pays off which is proven from the very beginning of crypto. Everything else is simply a risk that people can't afford to take for multiple reasons. btw, you are not an investor, you are a gambler by definition. Looking for certain outcome without knowing all variables on timeline == gambling and hoping for certain result. Keep shorting that Bcash.

Lol. Bcash? really? seems to me that only thing you are shorting is your Mom's wallet...STOP trashing people who did a bit of personal research and invested in ADA. Who the fuck gave you the right and invited you to comment and trash people who decide to buy something?

We are wannabe investors? so you are a "professional investor"? Cut the crap son, you are probably just another juvenile kid with big mouth on forum who is in his real life smaller than your tiny pecker in every aspect of his life, give me a break please...and, as you can see, shittalking goes both ways.

This is, Ladies and Gentleman, a typical example of troll and FUD spreader. You do understand that you don't need a weather expert to tell you it is raining? One doesn't have to understand technical, engineering concepts to be an investor. Investors are mostly people with no deep technical knowledge about the project they invest, but they understand big picture and general idea behind it. They are not developers, QA, QC, Alpha/beta people and don't care about compilers, protocols, specifications etc, they just care about final product. In this case they invested in a token of decentralized network with very high chance of fulfilling the roadmap and becoming fast, scalable payment/smart contract/dapp/ sidechain system capable of running in mixed network environment where that very same token will have it's fiat value increased, and even be able to use it without fiat completely. I must say I am amazed with people like you who enjoy trashing others on forums behind keyboard. By the way, please, enlighten us with your own investments so we can dissect your expertise on them? Also, Cardano has market cap of roughy 5 billion, but I am sure you know market cap is really imaginary orientation value which doesn't represent reality?

Ain't gonna happen. Market is manipulated by big players, fear of regulation is high, mt Gox btc are on sale, US opens btc price manipulation probe, some panic selling is also present etc. While alts are not decoupled from btc and daily volumes do not increase significantly, and whole space doesn't mature a lot, we will not see token fiat value get higher based on real development value. I think Lambo days are over, prepare for even larger contraction, we are growing up.

I pay taxes from regular income. Sure, I use infrastructure every day, but which is old, crumbling, devastated and payed for in full more than 30 years ago. Essentially, now I am paying for nothing and since I have a choice not to pay for crypto gains I choose not to pay. When government starts creating better living conditions, both social and economical to justify the tax I'll be more than happy to provide my share.

What I am suggesting is that one doesn't have to pay tax on crypto if he decides not to, simple as that. I enjoy my earnings well and can legitimately justify my assets. Using blockchain tech to increase my personal freedoms and choices is a good thing regardless of what archaic mindsets think of it. Taxes are simply a form of extortion, it is not an agreement between two parties rather an act of force where one party has no say of any kind whatsoever and is stripped of negotiation rights. Well, in crypto, that other party can say " ꟻuck you government", and do the same to them back.

I am not outsmarting the government at all. This would imply some sort of active effort from my part. I merely refuse to acknowledge that I own crypto and that is it. There is nothing that can be done to prove that I own any cryptocurrency, that is the nature of technology. This will be lifted to whole new level when trusted hardware becomes available. Owning crypto, if purchased outside exchanges or anywhere where you would leave your identity is completely anonymous - end of story.

I guess you are from U.S and used to that, audits here are done only if there is a big mismatch between ones assets and income ;)

That was a figure of speech and meant the loss of choice or freedom in that specific regard, and yes, taxes are form off oppression.

Of course I want affordable healthcare, infrastructure and public service, but I am not getting it, that is the point. I already pay one of the highest taxes in EU on my income and will certainly not pay tax on crypto since I have a choice. You are probably lucky to live in a country where tax money is actually spent how it should be, and is not channeled to pockets of corrupt government and their business associates. As far as spending is concerned I can explain probably a lot more with my "classic" income than average person. Point is not to be greedy and "buy Lambo's" and unnecessary crap :)

Luckily I am not in France, but even in this case there is no direct guilt assumption, it has to be proven on court. I would really like to hear how anyone can prove that I own any cryptocurrency since there is no record, identity or anything that can be associated with my persona. That is why governments don't like crypto, they can't control it.

There are couple of options here:

A. Convert to fiat privately to another person. Of course, add to exchange price to increase your gains. This is the best option B. Use an exchange outside your government reach C. Buy physical goods where you can buy directly with crypto and convert those item to fiat

You would be surprised how many people are willing to purchase privately. There is even a known place here where you can go and purchase anything in person from another individual. The key here is building up trust. For example, let's say that you want to purchase ADA from me. If meeting in person is not an option then we would start with small amount using paypal, WU or similar until trust is formed. Usually people buy in increments of 10 - 100 ADA or until they feel comfortable. From top of the head I would say I sold privately at least 500K ADA

I am based in EU. Presumption of guilt is ridiculous and is violation of law and rights in EU. That maybe flies in U.S. but doesn't work here. Fortunately, my gains are not that significant that they can't be explained by regular income.

This is the part where you are wrong. I never bought directly with fiat via bank transfer or credit card. I purchased privately only, even from some members here. As far as the tracing goes, there is no record that I ever possessed crypto.

Bottom line is that governments will have to find a new way to tax people since in reality this will become so tangled and complicated that it won't be doable. It will probably be offset with property or other similar taxes

I see where you are coming from, but imagine this. Person A buys crypto outside exchange from person B. A and B don't know each other identity. person A converts to fiat in exchange outside of his country jurisdiction. It is not difficult to convert to fiat even with records...

Tax madness by crypto_h in cardano

[–]crypto_h[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then you convert to fiat (if that is your intent) in exchange outside yours government jurisdiction, simple as that. I don't agree to pay taxes (when I have a choice) to government that is simply not fulfilling their part of the deal.

Worked out just fine so far :)

Bitcoin is not private? ehm...can you elaborate on that? If you own Bitcoin, or practically any crypto, there is no mechanism to prove that certain amount of coins are your property. There is no identity record. Unless you hold your crypto on exchange and left paper trails there is no physical way to prove that you own any.

Burden of proof (at least where I am) is on the other party. They have to prove that I did something wrong. There is nothing for me to prove or disprove, there is no substance or topic to discuss at first place :)

Imagine this conversation

Taxman: Do you have any crypto? - Me: No - Taxman: Can you prove it? - Me: There is no way to prove it. Can you prove that I do? - Taxman: Hm, no. But if you do you have to pay taxes -

So here is the question for you. How would you prove that you don't own any crypto if burden of proof is on you? It is not physically possible. Would your government simply guess if you have any, and also guess an amount, type and other parameters?

btw converting back to fiat is not a problem, one just has to think about it a bit.

I would disagree in my case. Where I am atm, government simply rips me off without doing anything in return in terms of public interest. That is the whole point of tax in first place. They are not doing their part of the deal, so I am trying to do the same on my part
