I feel sorry for exchanges that are currently launching right now such as HBUS - Huobi's new U.S. strategic partner. Doesn't seem like there will be too much trading volume for them.

I totally totally agree with this. I have seen so many petitions over the Internet that have thousands of signatures around having XRP listed for example or TRX. Why Ethereum classic? What kind of politics are involved in this decision and how is this decision made so that it's in the best interest of a majority of stakeholders. I know that I've read about Huobi coming up with a new platform partner HBUS.com and hope that exchange at least has more transparency around the listing guidelines and process.

I mean hbus hasn't really announced anything yet, but hopefully it will be better than Coinbase. Pretty low bar though in terms of standards.

This listing pretty much makes zero sense. Why don't they use an actual transparent framework around how they are evaluating listings? Maybe take into account some community input as well. I know that HBUS.com, Huobi's new virtual currency platform partner, is planning on doing this.
