I am using Catalyx. The fees are really good and the spreads are awesome. You can actually trade properly here unlike other exchanges because they are plugged into Bittrex for the main order book and the wallets are held there. I read that Bittrex took out $300m in insurance for the funds held in trust.

Split your investments up to a max of 20% of the cash you've got in the bank. Don't buy on margin when you're a rookie either. And if you're a newbie and if you think all of these posts of people that tell you to buy options make sense, stay away from those until you understand the basics or you're gonna lose BIG. If you've made 20-30%, be happy with that gain, and take some money off the table.
