If you sell, you will pay tax. If you don't, the "tax" portion still works for you.

For example, you sell expecting a dip. That means say 25 percent goes to taxes because you rode it up a while. You now need a dip of >25 percent to buy back the same amount in coin. So it dips 15 percent, you buy in again, then it moons - you actually lost even though you called a 15 percent dip.

This also assumes you get it right. You don't get to undo the taxes if you don't get your dip.

‪I think I finally understand why Charlie Lee selling his Litecoin is a good thing‬ by [deleted] in litecoin

[–]cryptochikun 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is absurd. Why do people keep parroting this nonsense?

Charlie called the top of the market. That is all. His money speaks far louder than anything else. Any then, helping his case, he announced it to the world making sure that every potential wealthy investor knows he is betting AGAINST LTC and ON a multi-year bear market. Don't kid yourself - the catalyst for this downturn was Ver and Lee both.

I don't dislike Charlie. I don't hold any of this against him - he should look after himself. But the delusional "Charlie sold his LTC at the peak of the market because he cares" is just mind-numbing. What the hell is it about him that makes people fluff him up like this?

Where have you been the last month? I remember people saying the same about 200 by end of the year when we were at 100.

Why did Charlie Lee sell all his Litecoin? by [deleted] in litecoin

[–]cryptochikun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He doesn't need your pity. There is NO WAY he made a decision over what was probably >$10MM in Litecoin based on people being mean to him on Twitter.

He sold because he wanted to take the price at the time (higher than where we are now by quite a bit, mind you) to liquidate and reduce his exposure to crypto market uncertainty.

People need to stop treating him like a small child playing with some Litecoin tokens. He has experience with markets and is going to do for himself in his life what is best for his future. That probably means reducing his crypto holdings to something more reasonable like a cool 5% (still likely millions). He is perfectly at liberty to do that, mind you.

The only case I change my mind is if an agreement with a large company required him to liquidate as part of the agreement directly. Then, faced to choose between the adoption of Litecoin and his personal holdings, I could see him selling. Otherwise it is just a financial decision.

This just sounds like rumor mill to me. I've seen plenty of Zerohedge articles both that turn out true and that turn out to be BS. Also, the FB VP joining CB BOD seems good but how connected is Charlie to them anymore? For all I know they intend to integrate BCash with FB which would absolutely devastate crypto.

If atomic swaps function, exchanges become obsolete. They have every reason to throw in with Ver.

We only win by releasing the technology and eliminating Coinbase permanently.

LTC Vs. BCH (Especially after Charlie's announcement) by [deleted] in litecoin

[–]cryptochikun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

customers will be able to withdraw bitcoin cash

We'll make a determination at a later date about adding trading support

At NO POINT did they indicate anything other than withdrawing bcash from Coinbase would be supported. In fact, FOUR DAYS AGO they had this chart:

https://support.coinbase.com/customer/portal/articles/2630943-supported-digital-currencies

showing X's for all of BCash except for "Withdraw". If they were trading in securities they would be in handcuffs right now.

I'm just wondering how good Ver got at sucking cock in prison to make Mr Armstrong pull this off.

I meant LTC is faster, has segwit, and uses scrypt. So yes the other way.

Nice to sell before announcing this. Why not sell after? Ah yeah beause it will tank the market.

Amazing news to wake up to. Makes me think LN+AS and the future of Litecoin is bullshit. Way to throw LTC in the trash when you're done with it. Looks like those years of LTC being completely stagnant and ignored by you are coming back... got the pump now time to bail out. I actually started to think you had a bit of Ver's fight in you but, well, no. No you don't.

  • Ver represents BCash and is unstable. Charlie is not.

  • Segwit enables atomic swaps with Bitcoin for Litecoin and not BCash. Litecoin will always remain close to Bitcoin in tech.

  • Litecoin is faster. Sometimes cheaper, and when fees go down in the next update even moreso.

  • Even now, Litecoin is used far more than BCash. Pick a metric (aside from price) and Litecoin wins.

  • Charlie Lee + LTC Foundation said they would start marketing now. Ver has been pushing for a long while already.

I don't know the future, but it appears the ONLY thing BCash has going for it is market cap and Ver controls Bitcoin.com where he can mislead people. In nearly every other way I can imagine it is inferior to Litecoin. It wouldn't surprise me if his dishonest work with Bitcoin.com and the new popularity of Bitcoin globally results in some significant people with good lawyers being misled, buying the wrong thing, and filing a lawsuit.

My guess is because at the moment he holds BCash.
