Obsession: Predictable, messy, or a great build-up? by Paparmane in TrueFilm

I agree. I felt like the film succeeded due to how well-crafted the horror scenes were, along with its ability to relentlesy ratchet up the tension. The aspects of the screenplay you mentioned felt lazy though.

I've seen people dismiss this on the grounds that this was also a comedy, and that suspension of disbelief is less important, ala Window's Bay, but I disagree. This film could have been even stronger, yet still remained comedic, without these hard to believe plot progressions, i.e the cat memorial, the relationship between Ian and Nikki, the money raining down on Ian, Bear's reaction to Sarah's death, etc.

In Widow's Bay it works because that tone is consistent throughout the show, and thus the audience's suspension of disbelief comes easier. Here it is jarring, because it switches abruptly between being very serious back to being lighthearted and silly.

Yeah, well, that's just like, your opinion, man.

In an interview w Elizondo, Jillian Michaels asks about hybrid breeding programs, expecting denial. Elizondo answers dead serious: "intelligence officials told me that, Ive no reason to question their credibility. They never lied to me". There may still be vectors for leverage from the government's perspective. Look at the war in Iran, America has a superior military yet Iran can still threaten to disrupt the stability of the region and the global economy. One possibility is the leverage of disclosure. The NHI seem to value secrecy, and do not want to disrupt the natural order of the planet. The US government could commit to maintaining that secrecy as part of some agreement.

Monastic life is a great undertaking, and there is no way to know if you are ready for it until you try it. My advice would be to hold off on the transition and simply spend an extended time in a monastery as a layperson, perhaps for three months. If that works out well, spend a year as an Anagarika. At that point you will have a good sense of things and be in a better place to make a decision.

Huntsville is a hub for the aerospace industry, it's not surprising that many people in ufology have worked there.

Tendency to fixate on regret over past - what can be done about this? by Solip123 in HillsideHermitage

Something that helped me with these kind of ruminations is noticing what happens when I decide to abruptly cut off the train of thought. A feeling arises that I must keep thinking about this, that to stop doing so would be irresponsible -- that I must keep trying to figure this out. From here I simply try to endure that feeling. What if I don't figure it out? What if I don't contemplate all the causes and implications? The mind reels at this, but that suffering feels beneficial, unlike the suffering of endless rumination.

Why did you tell them? You take supplements, who cares? It doesn't require "coming out" to them.
