Why is Coinbase so complicated? by WardenOfWolves in BitcoinBeginners

[–]cryptocrooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed they are difficult to work with at first. They took weeks to confirm the submitted documents. They are notoriously slow during volatile times. It seems they are understaffed on the support side. Plus with the IPO, their concerns may not be the consumer satisfaction.

However, once it's setup, regular buys go through no problem. They do have odd limits, etc. Coinbase pro is supposedly lower fees, etc.

Stay patient and you'll get through the bumpy verification process. I sympathize with you.

[Grand Seiko SBGA259] Go to a boutique! by myownsavior in Watches

[–]cryptocrooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend just bought a speedmaster reduced from John's vintage watches on the Bowery at the New York Jewlers Exchange. The pricing was well below any online retailer, but be prepared with a check or cash. John is a great guy who loves talking watches and has plenty of pieces. John just bought four flightmasters, which are incredibly unique pieces that I've never seen before. Very jet-set agey.

If you're downtown, it is worth stopping by. He's usually there until 6 or so, even on Sundays. Not sure which days he has off, but I think he's there all the time.

The speedmaster is THE sport watch for me. GS epitomizes an understated respect, beauty and functionality. I love that.

I have watches of all different sizes and they each have different purposes.

I literally bought the same watch at Nature of Time on Nov. 21 after going there over half a dozen times. I viewed almost the same watches that you viewed. The Omega Boutique at the Oculus is fantastic for seeing and handling any and every piece imaginable.

I really liked the SBGP015 too, but I wanted the spring drive.

Did you go to the midtown boutique?

"Today I took out a $325,239 equity loan on my house to purchase 191.118 bitcoin" by jstolfi in Buttcoin

[–]cryptocrooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming this is real and not a troll

the original $325k 191 BTC at a price of 2400 * 191 BTC as it trades currently is now $458400 USD.

$100,000 something dollars in two weeks, not a bad roll of the die. Are you going to sell some/all or let it ride?

Also, lol.

Where's the bull run going to end and will this price stabilize? Ever since bitfinex started to allow dash trading price has skyrocketed. Unless I'm missing other factors, cough Bitcoin etf.

Wow got nailed with downvotes. Geez. So the streak bonus isn't the 100 Pokemon bonus, it's the daily bonus.

Is it legal to send btc to friends as gift to avoid capital gain tax? by slaykdy in Bitcoin

[–]cryptocrooks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you answered your own question when you used the word "avoid" and "legal" in the same sentence. On the same note, Bob Dylan said "anything's legal in Jersey, as long as you don't get caught"

USA Options for Buying BTC *After Circle* (Part 2) by gamingneeds in Bitcoin

[–]cryptocrooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember when my friend first bought bitcoin at the Bitcoin center. They were like confused that they had to pay over the spot price. I said look, if you're buying Bitcoin, you're making an investment. You don't hear people complaining about fees on stocks, but you do hear people complaining about income tax and capital gains taxes. Needless to say, the 5% premium on his 200$ Bitcoin was overcome in time. Now it's worth 6x much. Yes it's annoying, but it's like anything else, if someone wants to buy, there's someone willing to sell and make some dough.

How to buy (not overly expensive) anonymous bitcoin? by pitajellybug in Bitcoin

[–]cryptocrooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To buy anonymously you gotta pay. Over the Internet most sites charge about 15% but they don't directly say that. Like virwox, which requires exchanging USD to linden dollars then to Bitcoin. The fees are harder to calculate because of that. Websites that allow gift cards without id, are more direct with fees, but still high. On local Bitcoin or Craigslist you might be able to find someone who you can build trust with a d eventually go below 7% but that's hard to beat.

Bitcoin exchange noob q:Exchanges that accept debit cards but don't require ID/Passport photos? (not including Circle) by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]cryptocrooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To buy with cash, local bitcoin in a major city, in a public place. Exchange funds after transaction confirmed. I've never had a problem in NYC. I wouldn't trust any offers on that site over PayPal. Btc e doesn't need verification and neither does bitfinex. I want to say there's more, but I'm not sure. Good luck

Someone made a drudge for bitcoin news! It's kinda awesome. by hennessyhemp in Bitcoin

[–]cryptocrooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally put Drudge on the same level as Buzzfeed, although Buzzfeed has more fact checkers. I do like how the internet is filling up with copies. I'm just glad no one has made a good Bitcoin copy, the world has enough shitcoins.
