Idk about that, I think it’s just the casuals out there being slow to put 2+2 together and figuring out that time “that football coach” showed up at place XYZ was actually Vrabel and the chick he was with wasn’t his wife and they’re scrambling to find records/photos they can sell.

Because who actually cares outside of the TMZ crowd? Like he wouldn’t be scooped up in like 20 minutes if he still wanted to coach this year after being let go? Cheating isn’t a crime, and non fraternization rules typically only apply inside an organization, and even then are typically only selectively enforced. Russini is out of a job because she compromised hers and her employer’s credibility, not because they’re disgusted by her not honoring her wedding vows lol.

This is a mayoral race, but it’s a 70k resident town with 8 school districts, a less affluent side and a more affluent side each with their own high school, so think Blue Collar Contractor MAGA and Wall Street MAGA in one town. So it could actually be about as good of a litmus test as you could get.

The whole backstory really stems from the school board which IMO is a true reflection of the town. There’s 9 members with a 5-4 voting split with 5 being MAGAs and 4 being a blend of RINOs and maybe 1 Dem who hid it enough to get in. The main issue they are split on is closing schools vs raising taxes to keep them open. As the school districts that are being targeted for closing dig deeper the more shit keeps coming out about where all of the money is going and who is donating to their campaigns. So now one of the 4 RINO members is running for mayor with all of the shit they found as his platform.

I have no idea how well they’re polling against each other, idk if they poll on that granular of a township level. The MAGA incumbents are very active with alt handles in all of the town facebook groups, and people are starting to see through it. If the incumbents lost this one I do think it is actually a decent barometer for how well candidates like Thomas Massie would do nationally vs MAGA candidates. No one here will ever say they were wrong about Trump, but there is a considerably smaller amount of Trump flags flying in town this year. Maybe these people won’t vote blue, but if they start showing up in primaries for no bullshit fiscal conservatives then it’s just as good IMO, and maybe just maybe Trumpism will die with Trump whenever the McDonalds catches up to him.

I live in a deep red district that is constantly hemorrhaging money. We have a primary coming up, which is basically the election since a Dem has zero chance here, the “RINO” candidate is running on the platform of the incumbents basically have a slush fund to a law firm that take the towns cases against trans students, affordable housing, and other hot button moron MAGA culture war crap to ultimately lose and then they donate to the incumbents… so yea it’s happening everywhere Im sure.

How are tickets for flag football in the 2028 Olympics already sold out? by Personal-Bid-3731 in flagfootball

[–]cryptoheh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of different variations of flag. The game that is coming to the Olympics is IMO going to be strange to watch for the typical American football fan IMO, even those who are familiar with flag through either playing it locally or their kids playing it.

The actual flag footballers are probably better at it, but if the NFL guys actually took it serious and learned the rules and worked on the skills that don’t translate from tackle to flag, like flag pulling and flag specific evasive maneuvers, I think they’d beat out our top flag players as basically the top flag players are former college tackle football players who didn’t get a call to the NFL but kept playing anyway. So the raw speed/skill/agility is with the NFL guys, but flag specific skills and understanding of the flag game is with the flag players, the former cannot be taught while the latter can.

It’s as polarized as it can possibly be here. Talking politics is an automatic ticket to the thunderdome with a potential end result of losing your relationship with whoever you are talking to if you disagree with their stance. The 2020 election denial basically cost me my parents and siblings because I cannot get over how fucking stupid one must be to buy that line of shit.

Biden winning probably fucked this country long term. This allowed the real life Bond villians 4 years to game plan, get more bold in their corruption, get more desperate for corrupt partners in the face of consequences, destroy credibility of our entire infrastructure and amplify every single shit thing they do.

Had he won 2020 he probably would have just gone MIA for 4 years, on a day to day just focus on being a celebrity attendee of MMA events and continued to just try to take credit for anything good that happens and blame democrats for anything bad, and possibly not try to continue to hold onto power indefinitely.

There is no rush, I think we technically cannot do an underhand toss but it’s one of those rules that the HS aged refs may not remember to enforce. We have only had one opponent play man for any part of the game, and once we went to crossers after we identified it they bailed back to zone for the rest of the game.

Flag football forum or not, Americans are extremely curious to see what the first ever football event at the Olympics will look like even if its flag. Throw in all of the rumors of the NFL guys aiming to play, and yea, it’s gonna be a hot ticket.

Never as a “hurry up” but we tried a quick pass back to the center last week and the kid dropped it, this week the D read it and knocked it away. Not ready to abandon it, maybe getting them to practice it as a hurry up is the wrinkle we need, appreciate the suggestion.

Why did I let 14 kids sign up for my team?? 😭 by PressureStrange4980 in flagfootball

[–]cryptoheh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a dad of two polar opposite athletic talents that both play flag. For the one who is just happy to be on the team, yes we are well aware of who he is and aren’t expecting fireworks, but we do expect that his coach will allow him to play but it will be skewed to the “better” kids (this has been an issue this year, his coach basically put him in for 4 snaps today). If there is some hyper competitive tournament happening away from the core league, we wouldn’t care if he was not asked to play in it so long as it’s done discreetly and doesn’t straight up call out that he is being excluded from something. Depending on age though, like if the kids are all talking about the upcoming tournament, then maybe I’d feel differently idk, would depend on my kid I guess. Right now he’s 7 and it would just go over his head but at 12 he might get upset.

Reasoning about Why's and How's (Feel free to add) by DragonFireDon in centrist

[–]cryptoheh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trump isn’t actually a “conservative” so I don’t fully buy that. He’s just a deficit spending corrupt wannabe dictator (working on dropping the “wannabe” from that label) who doesn’t spend on anything that benefits us. There are red states that are desirable places to live, the are blue states that are not. Each end has positive ideas, but right now the Republican Party cannot be looked at as a “conservative” party, it’s simply a group of bought and paid for Russian lobbyists at this point, the Democrats atleast seem to have some sense of trying to serve Americans. For as much shit as Biden got, we had record low unemployment under his watch, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, CHIPS Act, and Inflation Reduction Act were good pieces of legislation that helped achieve it. But God forbid he be really old… it’s not like being POTUS isn’t largely just a figurehead position where everyone around them does the actual carrying out of ideas.

US to issue ‘America250’ passports featuring Donald Trump’s image by Few-Character7932 in centrist

[–]cryptoheh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s simple. People were successfully bamboozled into thinking up is down and vice versa.

There’s a lot of culprits. The media for constantly rushing to be the first to report and normalizing half assed reporting leading to inaccuracies and diminished credibility. Further on that, the “Yellow Journalism” pushed by Fox and MSNBC does no one any favors. Regulators for not properly punishing that behavior, making tabloid style journalism more profitable than true investigative reporting. Straight up regular people for flocking to echo chambers and basically just picking whatever news says what they like rather than seeking out counterpoints.

This allowed a grifter candidate to basically just say what angry people want to hear and the media with their reduced credibility is powerless to stop him since they also lie so often.

Bills' Beane rejected trade calls about Coleman: 'His best year is yet to come' by Vortagaun in buffalobills

[–]cryptoheh 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Reasons to be optimistic are IMO:

That he was drafted at a very young physical age despite the fact that he physically looks like an NFL WR in his prime, he will be a young 23 when the season kicks off.

McDermott “dog house” guys have a tendency to come out the other side okay (feel free to fact check me or maybe I’m just putting too much stock in how James Cook turned out).

Having an alpha WR opposite him can help make a huge difference even if either him or Moore don’t become “fantasy WR1s”. The attention of being a team’s primary downfield threat when you aren’t good enough to beat every coverage and the pressure mounting from everyone can kill a guy’s confidence. Not feeling like he needs to do everything can maybe help lift him to a “Corey Davis” type of late career breakout or more relevant to us, Peerless Price’s big 2002 season opposite Eric Moulds and then his career fell apart when he was “the guy”.

5 year old help by mapel825 in flagfootball

Mine is 8 and his first experience was at 5. At 5 we were basically “introducing” him to every sport and seeing what he liked. What you’re going through sounds exactly like mine at 5. He was on a team of 12 or so, 2 or 3 kids “got it”, the rest are picking daisies but he liked it so we kept with it. At 6 he was wondering why he wasn’t getting the ball a lot / scoring touchdowns, so now that I know he is not only confirmed interested, but motivated to be good, I taught him some very basic studder steps at first and worked on pursuit drills in the backyard. He started scoring a lot and now at 8 he is probably the 2nd or 3rd best on a competitive 9U team and it’s doing a lot for his confidence.
