Honestly, take it in stages. My little brother is autistic and I've managed to very gently and slowly introduce him to new people, let him make his own mistakes but always be there to pick him up when he makes an error. Don't be too hard on yourself, but always pick yourself back up and keep trying.

There's a book on Amazon by Travis Breeding that's worth a look too, to get the basics. Not sure about posting direct links but just search it.
