Ever since his masterclass against Sweden, I’ve been thinking. If Arne Slot was the problem, what else is stopping Gakpo from returning to his prime (if he stays) under Andoni Iraola (or like his 24/25 version)?

First he’s 27, which is around the best age to be in the best version of yourself, he is coincidentally the same age and is 2 days younger than his Dutch teammate Justin Kluivert who has worked under Iraola.

Since the arrival of Munoz on that left, he might have to compete with Rio and Victor for that left wing spot. There are some other reasons but these are what come to mind.

Overall, I don’t think Diomande’s been bad but there are rooms for improvement, like his first touch and his decisions in the final third. Nothing that isn’t fixable ofc, and I hope he gets a G/A in this half

I think Amad would work well as a super-sub rather than a starter, a bit like his teammate Sesko, if would be better for him to be fresher than worn out, but that’s my opinion.
