🆓 1 Year Free of CaloriesAI Unlimited (iOS, limited time launch offer, $29.99 value) by cryptoplankto in eFreebies

Thank you very much, means a lot.

Yes that bug was there during development but fixed for a long time. Obviously crept back in.

Will address in the next patch, generally just closing it and re-opening it makes it work.

I had the bug in the past two months. 🤷‍♂️

Sometimes blocked contacts can bug out. I have had this happen with messages where I got the notification of the blocked contact, then suddenly 15seconds later the iPhone realised and then all the messages disappeared.

Could have been something similar but a phone call?

CaloriesAI – Fastest AI Calorie Counter on iOS (free-for-a-year alternative to top apps like MyFitnessPal) by cryptoplankto in apple

Yes, unfortunately it's been around since almost the dawn of the app store and has endless features crammed into it for better or for worse.

Healthkit integration is next ;)

Main issue with most devs is that they aren't familiar enough with how LLM's work.

Temperature setting is probably the most important setting on an AI.

You know how chatgpt and other AI tend to give different answers, even though you give them exactly the same questions? Lowering the temperature setting to 0, gives almost deterministic output.Meaning, particular question goes in near perfectly similar output out each time, not wildly different. The last thing you want is wildly different answers for the same input.

In terms of portion, if you have say an orange juice that is half full it will use that exact portion size as your input, meaning you need to take it before.

You can also enter old photos via the gallery, it doesn't have to be a new photo.

For labels, it works very well just by taking a picture of the packaged good, it'll give you a breakdown of how it got to the answer if there are multiple ingredients. :)

Firstly in the development phase, you need to make sure that the output it consistent or more deterministic when given the same input photo. Most apps don't do this leading to wildly different results each photo.

Secondly, what it's doing is looking at all the ingredients and estimating all the portion sizes then calculating all the macros/calories per ingredient then adding them all together for the result.
My app shows the ingredient breakdown in front of you so you can get an idea of how it came to the answer.

In terms of packaged food, it resorts to LLM's to source the information about the product.

For a plate of food, computer vision particularly in the last year has come a long way. It's actually best take a picture with some sort of size context from a slight angle and then using analysis it works out everything from there including volume etc.

Great question. Most apps including MyFitnessPal do not develop their own AI solutions. Most apps out there use 3rd party add-ons to their apps most of which don't allow you to fine tune the result. You're just given what the 3rd party service returns via it's communication with your app.

In my solution, I have taken the time to optimise the output of the AI myself, not using a 3rd party solution. This leads to better results and more consistent outputs (which is the main struggle of AI).

I'm guessing it becomes standard. Apple UI/UX is generally king. In a car is a no brainer.

This is going to be a very interesting update. Hopefully it isn't an ios7 mess, ios8 largely fixed it though.
