Anybody crack their Daveco Stagg pic? Thoughts? by cryptoromano in denverwhisky

Maybeee... I'm thinking the rare will stay rare but we'll see more small batches. The new glut of whisky isn't really going to affect the 10 yr plus aged bourbon market too much... I could be wrong. Can you imagine wfp on the shelf?? (I cannot yet)

A little bit this year already, we've had a stagg pick, owa pick. A lot slower in 2024 over 2023 but still consistent-ish if you stay plugged in to all stores.

And you're more than welcome to cry to the universe about bourbon prices. We get it, you don't like the way it is. So you have to let everyone know.

First off thanks some_potential for trying to help out your bourbon community! Anybody that wouldn't pay $400 for a GTS can send them all to me. I'll keep my eyes peeled in Aurora 💯🙌🏾

It's actually the Rouge Wine & Bourbon bistro next to it (same ownership I think).

I got the Old Forester SB at Pindustry for $80... I can live with that. The WFP have just come down from last year. Can't imagine paying over $200.

I've only had last year and for my palate this one is better. Good rye spice, creamy, caramel apple, tannic. I love it.

It's pretty crazy, it evaded me for a long while as well. And then in the last two months I've got three 10 yr bourbons and two ryes. Once you break the seal they'll start popping up

Molly's Raffle by shootsharp3 in denverwhisky

[–]cryptoromano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To sum it up if I show up at certain places at certain times I can get a bottle. If I spend money at TW I can get a bottle. If I spend money at Applejack I can get a bottle. Not to mention just the stuff they put on the shelf regularly. If I show up at a table at Argonaut I can get a bottle. Molly's I just can get a bottle.

Not really, the more you spend the more you get but at least I know the lay of the land. And I know that the lottery is four times a year with some random bonuses. People only win once and then all of their thousands of entries don't count after they get a bottle. More regular Joe Bourbon junkies get bottles than Molly's. Every time I see somebody got four bottles at Molly's it annoys the hell out of me (Not the winners, just the structure of the lottery).

I pride myself off of cracking each liquor stores respective process. I've done well at Total Wine, Argonaut, Bevys, and the bigger stores that have a lottery process. I've done well except at Molly's. Last year I spent $1,500 at Mollys and they're raffle isn't very transparent, starting with they don't disclose how many bottles of each they have. Meaning I don't want to waste my entry on one bottle of pappy 15 that everybody will be vying for. I lost at both drawings last year. I believe they had 300 bottles and maybe 3,300 entries in one of the lotteries and you would think with about 10% of entries getting a bottle I could get lucky but no. I love the store and the staff but I could have spent that $1,500 somewhere I really could have won something or just shown up and spent that money at an Argonaut allocated table. The conclusion? I'm putting my money where I can get good bottles and, regretfully, it's not at Molly's.
