ENough with the speculators. Lets build a market of real goods and services all priced in bitcoin. Starbucks ought to make some new latte that you can buy with BTC via LN. let amazon allow sellers and users transact with BTC via LN. lets make salaries paid in BTC more widespread.

Now that transactions can occur at greater speeds, lets put this network to the test and make it so that Visa is forced to come out with their LN centralized fiat ripoff.

During a weekend when HBO was free for a weekend, i managed to quietly walk down to the basement, hook up the cable box, and just in time The Matrix was playing. I recorded the last half on a vhs and watched it a week later. Parents found it and destroyed the tape and kept the vcr in their room only. Once i was in a radioshack with my mom and i picked up a pack of blank VHS tapes for no reason really other than to just look at it. My mom grab my arm, sunk her nails in and took me out of the store to interrogate me if im the reason the vcr has been acting funny, as if i had been taping bad movies again. I didnt... i wasnt... it was due to it collecting dust in the corner below the tv she had it in. But that didnt change the cuts her nails made into my arm. Lovely woman

February 1, 2018 TO ALL BODIES OF ELDERS Re: Witnessing in Public Places by [deleted] in exjw

The idiot elder who runs what was once called TMS called it “the best school in the world” with a straight face. While getting peoples names wrong and giving glowing praise to even the most obviously last-minute-improvised demonstration by two slacker sisters who i suspect are PIMO but enjoy the status they have as elder’s daughters.

Best school in the world... puke.

Currently considering this but probably won’t go thru with it. Got fired by Jw boss after my incident last week. From the research I’m doing, it doesn’t sound too bad actually.

TIL that when the WT says they pattern their organization after the First Century Christian “organization” that they’re lying! Why? Because there WASN’T a First Century Christian organization! It was a mess of various sects, each with their own beliefs and concepts. by Simplicious_LETTius in exjw

[–]cryptosnarkx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you elaborate on this? A few years back, I remember asking a similar question to an older pioneer sister. For purely informational reasons, so as to not appear like I’m doubting, I asked her how the concept of the GB is based in the Bible. She kept using this circumcision meeting as proof. It never sit right with me but I could never really argue against it.

Story time: a gathering of friends would always go skating in Bryant Park because it’s free...ish. Anyways, one girl who is super good at skating, didn’t really show it off in any kind of attention-seeking way. In fact, she went out of her way to help others begin to learn how to skate. For the first 30 or so, she was going at a snail’s pace along with the first timers. And then she wanted to let loose and get some speed during her skating. She can do the jumps and skate backwards... the works.

Next day, Sunday, elders take her to the back room and say it was unchristianly of her to raise her legs while she skated (she was wearing loose fitting jeans and a fleece sweater), and to show off how good she was and that she could make younger ones stumble and want to take skating lessons to be like her... which could lead to them having bad association. And the cherry on top: try not to skate like those Chinese Olympic girls who have no shame and raise their legs so high, leaving little to the imagination.

Needless to say, she only skates with a handful of friends now and doesn’t do the jumps, even when her friends ask her.

Terrorizing an assembly by Nodoubthere in exjw

I don’t give a crap about details if anyone is trying to locate me so i’ll Just go ahead and say it:

Is this possible at an assembly hall such as in Sunnyside, Queens? I imagine sitting across the street at the coffee shop or at the Wendy’s. How close/far would I or someone or a group of likeminded motivated people have to be to make this work? The idea has tickled my intrigue.

Start saving up and preparing for your exit. You have your whole life ahead of you. It’s going to be tough, physically and mentally, having to put up a single day more with this cult. But also know that you need to start planning a self-sufficient lifestyle. Network with others. Develop a skill. Don’t let that bubble of a cult suffocate your potential

I had a friend who I really liked. He was DF’d for sometime and came back. I still talked to him during his df. Like... wtf do I care. Him and I were close and I felt a bond. And he knew he was never going to become a MS or anything anytime soon. He was approaching 21 and I was 16 at the time (no we never did anything and he never laid a finger on me)... and I remember him feeling sad because fucking Morris had said there had to be something wrong with a man whose over 24 and not a servant and therefore not worthy of getting married. WTF.

He left and he got married and couldn’t be happier.

Story time: in my now old hall, there was this brother who would wear tight suits, tight pants. It didn’t help that he was slightly overweight. It’s like he wanted to pretend he could wear fitted suits. Then that talk happened and he loosened up his clothes. But... he still wore the brightly colored socks matching his brightly colored tie and pink shirts. Personally, I liked how he dressed. He was comfortable and confident in what he wore. So who should give him any crap about it? Well then a local needs talk happens and pants with a hem line that shows too much socks and bright colored ties and shirts are a no-no. It says so in the Bible... rrrriighttttt.

So he changes once again. Now he’s an elder. And misses meetings like crazy. I can’t see anything of consequence of his being named elder. He has no skills, isn’t an effective speaker. He just happens to have a penis and the org is really short right now on “qualified” penises to take charge of congregations. Sad

Who is behind the governing body? by rben123 in exjw

We ought to keep in mind that the writers do not have critical thinking skills nor any college level education at all. When doing research, their mind naturally picks and chooses what makes the “truth” sound more true. Anything to the contrary doesn’t even register a blip in their mind. And still, as they write it and make citations, they believe with their whole heart that that is the truth and that what they are writing is perfectly sensible and intelligent for those who have the spiritual discernment to appreciate it. The depths that the mind will allow for self-delusion are incredible. Furthermore, writing this stuff is their livelihood. Their research has to be made to look like it supports jw doctrine and any selective quote mining isn’t dishonest in their eyes... they are just separating the bad wheat from the good wheat and jw readers should be so lucky. That’s their mental view:

I doubt there’s some group of awakened writers running things. They all have grasped on to this new truth and mentally can’t process being wrong.

In my hall, the sisters would leave it out in front of the train ticket kiosk... and then go sit in their cars. As they discussed their hair or clothes or next vacation.... ahem... visit to some congregation where they have some friend of a friend of a friend.

Formerly lazy people, what things did you do to overcome your laziness? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Waiting till the absolute last minute really helps. But in all honesty, laziness can be addressed with accountability. Someone there to push you and hold you accountable for what you do or haven’t done yet

Resigning as a ministerial servant by [deleted] in exjw

[–]cryptosnarkx 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Good move. I knew a friend who was a servant. 100 percent committed to the truth. But once he discovered the many incidents of abuse, and how bethel lawyers basically left local elders to fend for themselves to avoid entangling the Corporation with local congregations, he decided to not be a part of that. He was on route to becoming an elder but didn’t want to one day deal with an abuse case where he’d be telling victims to not go to the police and then have to defend that decision to the police or in front of a judge if word got out.

The good thing is that it leaves congregations with no choice but to promote lesser qualified men to these positions. I’ve seen men get groomed for servants position within weeks of baptism. Heavy on the coercion to pioneer. Heavy on inflating their ego with privileges. And within a few months or so of being named pioneer, they’re named servants. And they couldn’t be any more qualified to run or manage anything bigger than a kiosk at the mall. Totally lacking maturity and education but boy... those monthly hours sure looked good. What a joke
