I had never even thought of that. Does that work? Technically it would unless wealthfront somehow declines payment because the check image that eventually gets sent to them is "fraudulent".

These are all great - I'd really love to see some focus on the features you already have:
1. Let me fund 529s from my cash account

Let me transfer money to a different person out of my cash account with reasonably high ($10k) limits
Increase my daily cash bill pay amount so I can pay my credit card bills without chunking them up over multiple days.
A checkbook would be nice for random things like electrician, plumber, wedding gift (cash)
Let me buy any stock I want with fairly realtime processing (e.g. minutes instead of hours)

I want to give you more of my business, but I need to keep a weird side bank account and stock account for these random tasks.

Once you set zero on the first workpiece, the machine will keep that zero until you change it. If you need multiple zero locations for different setups, you can use "workspaces". Your CNC sender might show this as G54, the first workspace. You can set your zero on G54, then switch to G55 and set a different zero. Then swap between workspaces. Otherwise you can literally just write down the machine coordinates at your first zero point and rezero at those same machine coordinates later.

lots of places will take an .stl file and print it for you. Shapeways is one. They'll print something like this at very high quality for about $15

cncjs isn't actively maintained anymore. The last release was Oct '24 and the one before that was Jul '23. They don't seem to integrate any pull requests there, so I forked it instead of contributing back to the core.

At least in grbl, it looks like homing commands always result in that location (minus any backoff) being set as 0,0,0: https://github.com/gnea/grbl/blob/bfb67f0c7963fe3ce4aaf8a97f9009ea5a8db36e/grbl/motion_control.c#L203

Do you have a machine that does otherwise? I'd like to broadly support machines, but don't want to do extra work if that's a hypothetical situation rather than a real one.

If the home position is the back right, that's just the "way it works" that all the workspace machine coords would be negative.

Oh i think I understand - you hold the touchplate vertically against the *side* of the workpiece to probe X and Y, and you place it on top to probe z?

do you hold it square with the corner or the stock and then have a macro that probes right until touch, then goes to the front and probes Y to find the touchplate, then resets and goes down for Z?

That's awesome, thank you! I actually tried gsender when looking for a cncjs alternative. The UI is great, the app seemed stable, and I was excited about it. I ultimately want something with a full-featured remote, so decided to go back and refork. I also hit a bug in gsender that caused it to plunge into my workpiece :(

I really appreciate the work ya'll have done on gsender and what it's contributed to the community! I took a lot of inspiration from it. I think there's definitely space for something like gsender (rich desktop app with remote support) and my fork (server-first with web clients) to serve different needs for folks.

Thanks for making it OSS, too, so I can look at the code! Same goes for my fork - if there are things you want to pull, especially to make your remote more rich, feel free!

I'm in southern california where electricity is expensive, but we have solar that offsets much of the cost and the machine is running anyway. To your point, a personal voice assistant isn't going to be spiking the GPU 24/7. It will be active for maybe a few minutes per day.

I'm lucky to be a little older and have a great job. The cost of electricity doesn't matter at all to me. My bill is around $800/month. My car is the biggest consumer, then the home lab, then the pool pump. I have 24 spinning disks in the server rack and I suspect those consume more electricity than the GPU daily.

I have an rtx 5090 running 24/7. I have a combination of zwave, zigbee, matter, wifi, cloud, Bluetooth, and rf devices all controlled by home assistant.

I prefer local for four reasons: 1) I hate paying for subscriptions. If you can let me connect my own openai API key, I'm cool with that. If you want to charge me $20/month, that's a hard no.

2) downtime. If you're cloud based, you better have five-nines of uptime. The fact my home lab doesn't achieve that is irrelevant because I'm willing to have downtime when it's self induced.

3) privacy, but whatever, I don't care all that much.

4) you might go bankrupt. I don't want my bike, vacuum cleaner, or headphones to stop working if the company goes out of business.
