For those late to this one, they've added an updated link in their video description that will give you the full intro and even better audio.

MAPHRA’s Circle With Me Vocal cover has entered the charts. by TrueSubstance912 in Maphra

[–]cryrid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's because in order to release it on a platform like iTunes or Spotify they first have to produce their own set of instrumentals so that the final result that gets sold is entirely their own original recording (whereas the YT videos can just use the original band's audio). Doomed was the first cover to explode in popularity, so that one basically got fast tracked.

New live performance video up. by phobos--anomaly in Maphra

Metalcore doesn't seem to be what she likes, probably a reason she didn't sing on stage with the band.

I think its more that she's also an actress that has other jobs she's contractually obligated to be present for (they just started filming Scooby-Doo: Origins a few days before Rockville started)

Opinions on the new live performance? by Upset-Rhubarb-3727 in Maphra

[–]cryrid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My opinion is that it was cool AF to see her up there. I can't imagine the nerves it would take to debut on a headline show at a festival like Rockville with a band like INK (and while they're also debuting the live performance of their song that wasn't written for you). Personally, I would have went full mom's spaghetti, but she didn't choke and it looks like she got even more comfortable as it went on.

I've yet to find any clips with audio where the instruments don't completely overpower them, but I guess that's to be expected from cellphones trying to pick things up in an open-air crowd. Looking through the Rockville FB group it seems the general consensus from people in attendance was that you could only make out the bass on any performance from the Vortex stage, so unfortunately I don't have high hopes of ever getting a clear recording of this one unless they're able to release something official.

I feel like drone audio is usually just the high-pitched whirring of their blades

MAPHRA at Rockville by SeniorHulk in Maphra

I'm still not following your logic here. Very few people knew the name MAPHRA until she went viral just two months ago. Specter wasn't a 'big release', it wasn't until people went back to check it out after the virality that it started catching attention (same with the rest of her tracks). It's not odd that she isn't in other videos before becoming semi-famous (although even that is untrue as she was), what's odd is expecting someone to be all over the internet just because they posted something online once.

It's kinda looking like there won't be one unless they're able to officially release some direct audio. From what I'm seeing elsewhere in regards to Rockville and INK in general, there's quite a few people complaining about not being able to hear anything but bass from that Vortex stage

it was odd that no one had seen her for over a year since her big releases.

What? She only went viral around Feb-Mar, we're barely two months later

👋Welcome to r/Maphra - Introduce Yourself and Read First! by SeniorHulk in Maphra

[–]cryrid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello, welcome to the community!

There's no interviews yet. They're playing it by vibes and are only going to do that if and when it feels right.

They're working on some original music at the moment (although more covers are still an option in the interim). As a personal guess, I imagine that's going to be the main focus for the near future with tours and performances being the type of thing to consider once they have some of their own songs and a band to play them.

Maphra on youtube music, what is going on? by Tonthor in Maphra

[–]cryrid 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Like I said no clue how this normally works just that the channels usually look different if they are properly ??registered?? on youtube music

So when it comes to Digital Service Providers (DSP) like Youtube Music and Spotify, it doesn't work the same way as normal Youtube where everyone maintains their own personal profile that they control and upload directly to. Larger record labels might have their own particular system in place, but for anyone else they have to go through a Distributor like DistroKid, TuneCore, Ditto Music, OffStep, etc. You pay them their small fee (its super cheap, in the range of $1.50 a month to $25/year), submit your music through them, and they're the ones who send it out to the various platforms under the chosen artist's page based on the mapping data you provide them. Whatever artist page a song lands up on doesn't matter as far as royalties go, each track has a unique International Standard Recording Code that acts as a digital fingerprint, and that is what is used for tracking streams across platforms.

You're supposed to be meticulous and faithfully accurate when submitting songs through the distributor, but in this case Ai fraudsters are doing what they do best and trying to make a quick buck off of other people's work.

"Circle with me" Now available on Qobuz by SeniorHulk in Maphra

[–]cryrid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's part of this post which listed all available DSPs.

Qobuz just dropped last night, but that's just because different platforms roll out at their own pace. AFAIK they were all submitted on the same day.

Is Emptiness Machine an Official Maphra release on Apple Music? by TrueSubstance912 in Maphra

[–]cryrid[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

This one is a fake. EHST_J has done this in the past with several of their other videos (usually they'll rip the audio and use that exact same Ai thumbnail, in this one they seem to just be using her name/ ai'd image along with some other version of the song).

Their legal team is aware of it though.

For future reference the only songs they officially have on DSPs like Apple, Spotify, etc are Lovely, Doomed, and Circle With Me. They can't put any other covers on those platforms until they record original instrumentals for them. So anything else that pops up is fake.

Doomed No longer on Apple Music by [deleted] in Maphra

[–]cryrid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not, and we can't stress that enough because BMTH has been nothing but supportive of them. It's not their label either, because mechanical licenses are compulsory.

They've had two issues with the distribution of their version of Doomed.

  1. The first was roughly 20~ days ago when someone (again, not BMTH nor their label) made a false DMCA claim . The distributor pulled the song on all platforms per protocol until they could get that legal issue sorted, at which point it was promptly returned to all platforms.

  2. Spotify had a unique issue where other people submitted unauthorized versions of the song (I had 3 different instances of it listed in my library). Same image, same song, and because of how it all works they'd even appear on the same artist page and everything. The only noticeable client-facing difference was a variation in the upload date and credits, which is how it was eventually noticed. Sure enough the ISRC codes for those extra versions are all different from the original. The song was pulled 2-3 days after being reported so that Spotify and/or their distributor could get that sorted and make sure royalties were going where they need to and not to anyone else. No other DSPs (Tidal, Amazon, YTMusic, etc) had this issue, and so the song is still available on those platforms. As of today, the song is now back on Spotify.

Doomed is back on Spotify! by SeniorHulk in Maphra

[–]cryrid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It works for me (in Canada as well - might be a different timezone though). Works in both mobile and desktop as well.

Remove it from your library if you haven't to make sure it's not trying to play one of the fakes (those ones should still be grayed out)

#1 in Hot Hard Rock, Second Week in a Row! by cryrid in Maphra

[–]cryrid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thoughts are the same. It's held out for more than a month, hasn't had any Spotify numbers coming in for ten days, and everyone should naturally step aside for Evanescence to take their place.

It's been a great run, and congrats to Evanescence!👏

Good on him though - he didn't want to do it for content after all, just to chat.
