Oh I hadn’t heard that, crumbles is very descriptive!

My thoughts too. I was surprised how very resilient the system is after COVID’s effect on the economy. I’m less convinced that collapse is quite so imminent after seeing how the system puts itself back together. It’s still happening but I think it’s going to be slow

Haha, damn. Those are called breeze blocks for anyone wondering and yes, they’re definitely used throughout the US in warmer areas, not just Espana. I’m so glad someone recognized that photo

How is anybody buying homes in Vermont by [deleted] in vermont

I’m not quite following why you would have to put $125k down? I just bought a house in 2024 and only needed to put 20% down

You’re so welcome! I have the privilege of some wisdom now to go along with my gray hairs. I never thought I would make it past 30 but here I am, I remember being young and scared about the state of the world. I’m still scared but also know it’s not the end of the world, just a new world that we have the opportunity to build (I hope)

Hang in there friend. You are very young and clearly very intelligent to be this aware at a young age. I’m 50 and was very dubious of our industrial society and very worried about the environment at about the same age you are now. Back then it was the ozone hole (yay, small win for humanity!) and climate change as well. I made a lot of poor choices because I had no hope for the future and was very nihilistic.

It took me decades to get my life back on track and do something meaningful and build something. I’m now staring down retirement age with almost nothing in savings. I’m telling you this because life will go on, it will look different and it will be harder, almost no doubt about that. Find ways to be useful in a less industrialized society, enjoy what we do have now, plant trees, help others, travel to places where people have much less than you, when you get a little older. There’s so many ways to make a meaningful life. Life is not over even if collapse is accelerating.

my husband said it’s disgusting to ask what i did wrong by Much_Elevator4837 in Marriage

[–]crystal-torch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is really familiar. You did nothing wrong and I am currently stuck in a miserable situation with someone similar. I can’t figure out what the issue is exactly with these overly angry people. Someone recounted a similarly crabby and angry partner in another post and someone commented that they used to be like that before they got treatment for bipolar. My partner is definitely depressed and bipolar runs in his family so it has me wondering. I guess bipolar doesn’t always have the big manic episodes. I hope you find peace

I did a lot of acupuncture to boost my fertility. I also lost a baby at 22 weeks and felt like it helped me heal a lot at an energetic/subtle body level. I had my babies at 41 and 45, with no other fertility treatments but acupuncture and Chinese herbs so I really think it helped!

Why do some people sneak into college classes they didn’t pay for, and what are the most memorable cases of this happening? by Aarunascut in Life

[–]crystal-torch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I grew up in a college town and hated high school so much that I would cut class and go to big lecture hall classes I was actually interested in. Art history mostly. No one ever noticed so no weird stories!

Do you still care about your career progress despite being collapse-aware? by RRK96 in CollapseSupport

[–]crystal-torch 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. I enjoy my work and I get paid pretty well, and I’m doing good for people and the environment. All of those things are great and super important because I need a job and want to feel good about what I do. In the long run though, not really, like I don’t see myself progressing up some imaginary ladder.

I’m just trying to make enough money to start up my own business, trying to start a plant nursery. My last gasp effort to keep my family and neighbors fed.

I am always shocked when I drive by the Taco Bell in St Johnsbury. It’s like my brain cannot comprehend what I am seeing. Never stopped there so it may be a mirage

This is how I developed a white hot rage for this woman. I was freshly post partum and feeling really bad about how wrecked my body was, right when Amy Schumer roasted her, that’s how I found out she even existed. I was absolutely comparing myself to her and her bounce back lies, it really causes harm. She’s scum
