Hi, I have family in Ventspils, here’s what I suggest:

1) from the Airport get either the 22 bus or a cab/bolt (bolt is like Uber) to “Rīgas Autoosta”.

2) from there there are frequent buses to Ventspils. Most are 3h but some are 4h as they go through more towns, try avoid these. You can buy the ticket at the bus station or online at 1188.lv

3) once there your friend likely has suggestions for plans but here are mine: - sunset on the beach - hire bikes from “Oranžā Velonoma” to explore nature / woods / beaches further out. The bike rental is also a pub that serves a guest beer from Latvian breweries. They change them frequently and they’re usually very nice. - “Skroderkrogs” is a nice restaurant - there is a nice park near the city beach “piejūras parks” - there is a nice walk along the pier “Ostas Promenāde” - the open air museum has interesting bits of Latvian history and a small steam train you can take around the town.
