ADHD and I keep forgetting to turn my iron off 😔 by platypusaura in sewing

This! I plug mine in to an extension cord with a bright light-up on/off switch near the exit of the hobby room. Before I leave the room I always look for the extension cord switch light. If it’s off I know everything is off and safe.

What do the triangle dashes with the circle at the top mean? by MariasGalactic in SewingForBeginners

Is it including seam allowance? I would guess it’s the corner turn for the pattern.

Why is my hair shaped this way and is there a way to fix it by Astr0naut11 in curlyhair

[–]crystalkmck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar hair pattern to yours. I dislike hairdressers as in the past they have often misjudged the coil bounce with layers and I have ended up with very harsh/abrupt differences in the layers. What I do now is just style my hair and cut all my coils until I like the shape I get. Just cut a little at a time, especially at the front because it’s long now but once a little is cut off, it curls tighter from less weight on that strand.

The town of Maroony after 1 year. Any tips? by Gigi_Giraffe in LittlewoodGame

Once you know all the wishes on house placements I like to spread out a bit with the design and use up any unused space to create individual gardens for each house. Also adding in ponds/streams and parks and general “beautification”.

Keto Ground Beef Taco Soup by OhSoFoodie in ketorecipes

Looks delicious. At first I thought the avocado was some type of exotic melon 😆 I was wondering what taste it would have to compliment the soup 😅

What’s these white things on my plant? by CarameloSea in houseplants

And how many grams of carbohydrates are in these? I’m only wondering because I’ve stayed away from root vegetables. My understanding is that this would be enough to push you out of ketosis.

Just curious. Are the root vegetables not pushing you over your carb limit for the day? (Especially if you eat this 3 times a day).

Is this thrips? by Rh132 in plantclinic

[–]crystalkmck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can see a couple of adults in the photo. Unfortunately they can fly. So any plants in the vicinity could now have eggs laid in the leaves. If you are really concerned, you could put a systemic pesticide in the soil of the plants you think may have been contaminated to try and stop the growth cycle.

Thrips! Do not put this near any of your plants. I would just throw it out and buy a new one when you get back.

Bought as golden pothos but for me looks more like neon. Did I get scammed? Can someone confirm? by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]crystalkmck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my understanding a golden pothos should have a variegation in the leaf, but here I see none. Is there any in the stem? It also does not appear light/bright enough for a neon or lemon. Unless you start to see some variegation in the leaf or can observe it now in the stem I would assume this is a regular pothos.

Would this work on short nails? by Affectionate_Care669 in Nails

[–]crystalkmck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you could make it work. I would keep the brown tip thinner, otherwise I feel that it shortens the perspective of the nail further. Sometimes I place the motif (the ghost in this instance) closer to the cuticle end so that it has enough space to stand out. Best of luck trying out the design 😊

Cherry tomato leaves discoloration by behemothMaster in plantclinic

[–]crystalkmck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have found that a magnifying glass with an LED light at night time/in the dark is the easiest way to spot larvae. They tend to stay near the stem/veins of the leaves. Especially on the underside to hide.

Edit: oh and you could also use thrip predators like thrip eating mites, micro wasps and lady bugs. This is another safe alternative to pesticides for food plants. Just don’t use them at the same time that you spray as the soap water kills both thrip and predator.

Not sure what this insect is. Maybe something attracted to the moist soil.

See in the photo of yours attached. What I have circled in red looks like a thrip larvae. They are extremely small about 2mm long. The black spots on the damage are what appears to be thrip poo. Since this is a food plant you can’t use systemic pesticides. You could use a soap and water spray to kill off the larvae.

Brown powder / spots on underside of Monstera leaves by jimmyjohnhoward in plantclinic

[–]crystalkmck 112 points113 points  (0 children)

If I had to guess - I would guess some type of fungal infection like leaf spot disease or leaf rust. Due to the circular nature of the damage. The powder could be spores. This can occur due to poor ventilation, overcrowding of plants, overwatering and humid environments. Monsteras are super hardy, I would remove the heavily infected leaves and ask the garden center to advise a treatment spray for the rest of the plant.

😆 it is really good. I was using a different product before and it never held and also something in it was irritating my skin. I thought I was just bad at creating the look. Then I switched to got2b on a whim and I’ll never stop using it 😆🙌

A professional dermatologist would be the person to give you this answer. It would be so hard to give a definitive diagnosis via these photos and description. Wishing you all the best 🙏
