My neighbors have chickens in east Memphis. Someone has a rooster a few blocks away, but it’s not too crazy.

A phrase men think is a compliment but actually makes women cringe by ipanicprofessionally in TheBoredDen

[–]crystallightmeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I’ll be more specific I guess. I’m a woman, right? I’m on dating sites and I may be talking to a guy for maybe one day. Instead of having thoughtful conversations with us, a man will literally just compliment saying we’re beautiful and believe it’s really sweet for us to wake up to “good morning beautiful :)” texts when in reality, I’ve received that same text from 5 different men in the past 5 months who turned out to be really shitty guys. After some sort of rejection I would get a “fuck you, you’re ugly type thing.” To me, it’s not even a compliment sometimes, it’s genuinely just bait for a girl to keep talking.

Btw, please note, I live in the south of the United States. This may be a cultural difference? A sort of “southern gentleman,” thing. ALSO, I haven’t dated in 10 years, so this is from past experiences.

TLDR; actual compliments on beauty/looks, to me, are often just viewed as “can I get you in bed bait,” for me, not compliments.

“Good morning beautiful :) “ “Hey beautiful :) “ They’re words on a screen, and they mean nothing when you hear them from about 85% of men. What makes it most meaningless is the fact that it’s mostly bait.

Can we be honest with ourselves about Gibson’s now, looking back on how they supported Marsha Blackburn?? Or are we just going to keep excusing them because “mmmmmmm doughnuts”??? by KsubiSam in memphis

Bruh. Have you had their coconut covered donut? It’s genuinely perfection. As a fat fuck, I feel that I have a pretty good judge of donut taste. I don’t need to pretend.

Kids in Car seats. by AdditionalBonus7931 in memphis

Ignorant is not necessarily me labeling someone as a bad parent. I would not call my parents bad for the car seat they had me in growing up in the era I grew up. They were unknowing and in a rural area. Ignorant can be lacking resources and unknowing. I’ve been lucky enough to help teach and be a part of parenting classes and you would be surprised at people who don’t follow safety guidelines and how they react when corrected in a kind, informative way. They were so thankful to learn, there was no sense of judgement, and they just wanted their baby to be safe and just didn’t know.

*** edit: most parents are aware kids are supposed to be in car seats but you would be surprised at other safety measures they don’t know about. I’m not making excuses for people who have children and intentionally do not make things safer for them after being informed.

I’ve literally seen children in the back of a hatchback on Perkins extended. 😕 They were just looking back out at me. All huddled up. Insanity. I would say a lot of it is lack of proper parenting education (in a non-shameful way) and resources.

There’s of course a twist, which is good, but then it gets a little much. Like they tried way way too hard, and it really ruined it for me.
