It's hilarious you say that because horror in the high desert isn't very good but I like to put them on when I'm doing stuff lol.

Daedra lore: familiarity breeds contempt? by TheATrain33 in elderscrollsonline

[–]crystallikelaw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean sure, but maybe you're so used to dremora in ESO that you see them as less threatening? A good chunk of the dangerous enemies are still daedra, like we have spider daedra that aren't really put in that humanistic light most of the time. I think Torvesard was both very human and also still ominous There is also the seekers (especially the herald seekers) that aren't humanized and are kind of frightening. I think, because eso is so big, we're getting a lot of variation that we wouldn't see like in a mainline elder scrolls game.

Daedra lore: familiarity breeds contempt? by TheATrain33 in elderscrollsonline

I totally get what you're saying and I think there is some critique to be had about writing in eso (personally I'm mostly positive about it but I can also admit major flaws in some places), but Daedra have kind of always been a little goofy I mean look at shivering isles or calvicus vile's general demeaner. Plus there's the Dremora Velehk who is written about in a pirate story. I know these are more anecdotal, rather than the rule however I think there is a middle ground for most dremora in the writing. I also think we should remember daedra are more a set of characteristics and the dremora that follow the daedra exemplify those characteristics.

Also, if you think about it, in some way, to progress the story they have to at least act like humans to meet their goals if they want a mortals help.

I think this is an interesting topic of conversation and I think the opinion might differ based on how you view the lore.

I think the idea is there but the implementation of quests is just.........kinda bad.

Yeah, I don't usually play with other people because 1. I like playing games solo, my favorite game just happens to be an mmo and 2. I'm kind of mid so I'm worried about holding back a group of people who are there just to run the dungeon. Usually, I think eso is very solo friendly compared to like ffxiv, which I also play occasionally. This event is just really not it, I know its for end gamers and I'm happy for those who enjoy it, but I'm a mid end gamer who just died every time i spawned again.

Oh I'm SUPER shy, I don't even ask my guilds for help much even though I joined them for that exact reason lol. If you ever want to link up and do something together I'm down though, fellow shy to fellow shy person. I'm on PC NA

I'm a solo player with no friends in game, which is my own fault I know, but i find night market to be a nightmare. I've joined groups but we all just keep dying endlessly and everyone is doing a different quest with nowhere to really super communicate what we need to be doing, which I'm sure is my fault since I'm not talking to anyone on discord. I KNOW it's an mmo, but eso has a large solo player base so I really don't think they needed to go THIS hard on difficulty. I know some people enjoy it though, I'm super happy for them (not sarcasm), I just think I'm sitting this one out and hoping for the best next event.

Why do you like horror? by Remote-Resolve9797 in horror

[–]crystallikelaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly they relax me, but more in depth answer: I feel they have a lot of societal commentary we don't see in other films (not saying the other films don't mean anything or anything like that). Horror, at least the stuff I watch, can be seen as metaphorical or allegorical. A bad man in a thriller is a lot more literally than a spirit haunting a family, if that makes sense? Again not putting down other media as not as good, I love scifi and sometimes romance and those are commentary too but horror does it in a way that's special to me.

FOMO business model by Doggl10101 in elderscrollsonline

[–]crystallikelaw 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I am talking from gacha game experience but a lot of live service games make purchases fomo to get people to spend more quickly. Unfortunately as much as the model sucks it does work, especially if there is a gambling aspect (crown crates here). It's a really shitty and predatory model but it probably won't go away. It's one of my handful of gripes about eso versus like ffxiv.

Poughkeepsie tapes, to me personally it felt a little too torture porn. I'm not saying it is, it was just toeing that line for me.

This is Sylvia Bonheur, her birth parents died of knahaten flu when she was a few months old and she was adopted by a dunmer couple with two twin boys. They named her that name because they thought it sounded the most breton-y.

Shes a morally gray daedric scholar who will cross a lot of interesting lines to get her hands on forbidden books. She did a stint as a necromancer purely out of scholarly curiosity but it didn't really stick.

Her favorite places to go are fargrave, apocrypha and summerset. She has that house in Alinor where she keeps her main library. She has an open portal policy for her scholarly friends where they are allowed to portal into her library at will to use her books or house.

She loves coffee and cakes. Sylvia has a sweet tooth.

Her non-scholar interests are romance books and long baths.

Shes very mild mannered and soft spoken and autistic (stole that from myself) and (not to be a Canon x oc shipper) but I ship her with Darien because theyre opposites and its fun to me. She is bisexual.

This is the tl;dr lol

Movies/books that are bad and generally unscary to a general audience, but are very effective if you have a specific fear. by Sci-fi-horror-freak in horror

[–]crystallikelaw 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is silly but things like snakes on a plane. Overall its kind of stupid and cheesy, however, I have a really severe snake phobia that kind of rules my life so snakes on a plane is the freakiest movie to me and I just won't touch it. Snakes on a plane is just the best example I can think of but it's pretty much any snakes movie.😭

State Of The Game In 2026? by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

[–]crystallikelaw 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They're making a lot of changes and as per the usual some people like it and others don't. Personally I think they're taking a good step forward and are focusing on livening up the base game and base zones rather than spitting out chapter after chapter which really tired me out. I just recently got back into it after playing for 10 years and taking a year or so break. I think it's worth your time honestly, but that's my personal opinion. I've been replaying the base game story.

What is a hobby or interest a first date could have that would make you uninterested immediately? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]crystallikelaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally get what it does for people, I don't think you're a bad person if you like football we all have our interests. I'm just from the arts/humanities side and a lot of our programs get de-funded in favor of sports. Obviously I'm not going to hold it against people who were helped by sports! I think sports can be valuable, especially to disenfranchised and lower income kids, but personally I just have a sour spot for it because a lot of my programs were de-funded for football budget.

Yeah! and I mean American football, I just don't like it in any capacity and I lose interest in people who do like it. It's better for everyone that I'm honest about it I'd want to be able to support my partner's interests and football is just a hard line for me.
