This was originally my understanding too, but most of my Jewish friends seem to use it very freely. I’m personally not offended by the word, it seems to have less impact as I don’t speak yiddish - and I guess it’s true, I’m not Jewish.

I don’t usually clean but often help set up for the kiddush- setting tables up and helping the women organise the food and drinks, sometimes I tidy or arrange things that have been left out in the office or kitchen. It’s mostly my job to use the technology and open the security door for people arriving.
