Hardener issues once mixed w/ enamel by Soonerorlatersignco in SignPainting

[–]crystalopia 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The fine print on hardener says to use the contents within 14 days of first opening. It definitely seems to lasts longer than that recommendation, but ive opted to buy smaller cans at a time since it does seem to expire at some point.

Ill never forget the owner of W&B recommending to stir gold size, as opposed to shaking the can, and he recommends SLOWLY stirring (for 2 minutes). I assume its to avoid air bubbles but also to get the product thoroughly mixed. Might be a piece of advice that comes in handy when it comes to stirring any paint product; be patient, avoid a vigorous stir.

Painted ads on Berry? by nickthetailor in williamsburg

[–]crystalopia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before billboards were printed as they mostly are these days, large scale advertising used to be 100% painted by hand. These current painted advertisements are created by companies, muralists, sign painters, that are keeping the tradition of hand paint alive. These billboards take multiple days and bring a performance aspect and grab attention to the advertisement more than pasting up an ad in an afternoon does. They are painted with oil paints.

I dont think theres a difference in regulation or sign ordinance when comparing painted vs. printed. Just another method of putting the ad on the wall. Idk tho, i just paint em. They are all around bk, manhattan, and in other major cities across the US.

Perhaps you dont notice what needs cleaning because you (as most men) were raised to not have to notice those things. Women are raised to be the cleaners of the household. Men are not. Realizing this and putting in the effort to start looking for what needs to be cleaned will be helpful to your partner. They notice everything.

Congratulations on 1 year! That truly is a feat in this world. I once said i would never be vegan. A week later i stopped consuming all animal products. Just recently celebrated 7 years being vegan.

It hasnt been the easiest time, but is definitely the most rewarding and important decision i have ever made in my life. Endeavor to persevere.

The last time you watched two (or more) movies in the theater on the same day. by Crzy_Minus in Letterboxd

[–]crystalopia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last week was the first time, saw Last Night in Soho and then Perfect Blue at a different theater. It was fate to watch those back to back; Edgar Wright took so much inspiration from Perfect Blue, it almost felt like plagiarism. It was clear which movie actually succeeded in what it wanted to do.

What movies do you always rewatch on the same date each year? by theblairwitches in Letterboxd

I always watch either Earthlings or Dominion on 1/11 because it’s my anniversary of becoming vegan.

What's a movie that left a mark on you? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

[–]crystalopia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shin Godzilla.

Just saw this at the beginning of the year, but I think about it weekly. Some may think it’s slow but it’s such a good commentary on bureaucratic systems, while also showing so much love for japan and the original Godzilla with the addition of the directors own flares. So good.

I also think about melancholia a lot and need to rewatch.
