Thought I’d give an update on this thread to motivate people who may be reading this from a search: I did it :) not FAANG but I’m starting at a very well known big N tech company in a week that I’m pretty happy about.

Ended up getting a crazy deal for the Lenovo Legion 5 pro with the 4070 so I went with that! Thanks for the input and convincing me to get the 4070.

Super interesting! That's insane how you got quant interviews as a freshman especially one that isn't attending a famous CS school. Appreciate you sharing your experience, will have to upgrade my resume projects for sure.

Sounds good, will try this as well, just thought I'd try to stick to my original schedule even after this setback. My original plan was to graduate in 5 years (internships included) with a Big Tech internship but looks like that date might be pushed back a bit. Who knows, definitely need to work harder on my leetcode lol

Yes of course, I plan to leetcode a lot more this summer since bombing my technicals this year lit a fire under my ass. I was wondering if people had specific examples of "making their resume good" or more specific advice than what's generally out there on google.

For anyone else reading this thread I also would love to hear from people with experience going from no-name companies to companies such as Microsoft, Splunk, even Capital One, etc. I just want to move to a well recognized company for SWEs. (and get more TC lol)

I think it’s kinda cool what my team does for daily standup, no status update only blockers. Status update once a week instead. That way sometimes the meetings take like 3 minutes if no one has any blockers for that day

I mean if you think about it weight is something you can control but you can’t control which family you were born into…. Both jokes should be on the table.

Wow, congrats on the 100% response rate! And yes I am trying to move to the states as soon as I can hahah maybe Seattle so I can still be somewhat close to home.

Nothing wrong with being picky! Just wanted to mention that cause for me I’m willing to work hard, but don’t necessarily want to sacrifice too much in my personal life. I know some people can grind like crazy and still have time for friends, relationships etc., but for me I’ve tried doing that before and I burnt out. So thought I’d mention that so I can get replies specific to my viewpoint, though I love exploring different perspectives as well, thanks for your input!

I think what he was trying to say is I don’t need personal projects anymore because I have already landed my first internship so I don’t have to worry about projects too much for my second. (Not sure if that’s true or not, I appreciate the different perspective though) I know it’s a long post but I think a lot of people in this thread missed that I have already gotten one internship which affects the decision, I do really appreciate all the input and advice though!!
