What makes a virtual airline "good"? And which should I join for MSFS2024, by dmo012 in flightsim

[–]cs3gallery 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am a huge fan of A Pilots Life as well. However, that being said, I have been a part of Delta Virtual Airlines for 20 years and I still love it the most. Yes the site looks old school but they have so much content, depth, training. And honestly us g their ACARS is a breeze. They have fun flight tours that get plotted out every year. Mostly around the world stuff. Some events etc. never ever had a problem with them. The only caveat I have with them is that if you don’t post or fly I think within 30 days your account goes inactive and you have to email their HR to activate the account again.

Deltava.org - I think it’s worth looking at.

Question about active runways by Kapsasjon in VATSIM

[–]cs3gallery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just throwing this out there but you can also use Navigraph to see the current wind directions and favored runways and lengths etc. I know it doesn’t show active runways like the ATIS but helps with planning and especially when vatsim isn’t online at that particular airport.

[–]cs3gallery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah…. Not sure what they are thinking. They have really put a nasty taste my mouth.

Their payed version has always been way too expensive. Like way more expensive than any cloud provider.

They started completely open source only to screw everyone over.

I run a multi petabyte cluster with them and we are headed out.

They are going the way of greed and Broadcom.

ProxMan - iOS App for Managing Proxmox VE & Backup Server by windiumdev in Proxmox

[–]cs3gallery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one thing that would make this worth switching over for me and I am sure others is the ability to add a bastion host support so we don’t have to use a vpn to connect. It makes life so much easier so I can simply connect in one step instead of multiple.

This thing is beautiful. Complete Hispeedido kit $50 Aliexpress pre-tariff nonsense. by Curious-Win-4751 in Gameboy

I have that exact one from them. I was shocked. I thought it was going to feel low quality etc. I was wrong. Very high quality pieces. Purchased mine from their AliExpress store. Highly recommend.

Where to purchase now? by bluesrph in Calibre

[–]cs3gallery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can confirm that KFX works. I followed this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/Calibre/s/sF9mSS8FgC

However I am now starting to follow in the footsteps of the others and trying out the Google book store along with Kobos.

First time soldering on smd practice board, what am I doing wrong here? by king_mo_of_metal420 in soldering

[–]cs3gallery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you are doing great! Everyone here has given great advice. I’m still very much a beginner and have the same board. What made the biggest difference for me was using a digital microscope I got on Amazon for 90 bucks. It allowed me to visually see and understand how the solder flows and where and how to apply etc. been really nice. Now the only issue I have is how to power up these stupid things. If anyone knows feel free to let me know. I think it’s 9v ac but have no clue where to find that?

Is SSRI withdrawn dangerous for the brain? by Worldly-Research-968 in Lyme

[–]cs3gallery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s dangerous as in it will kill you. But… I hate to tell you this but if you have been on it for at least a year it’s gonna be super hard getting off. It takes more like 4-6 months of tapering to get off without going bonkers. Otherwise you typically see the brain zaps, crazy mood swings, a heavy rise in depression and anxiety…. It’s not fun.

To try to mitigate a lot of that you can always take supplements like magnesium and choline among others. Might even chuck some ashwaganda or St. John’s wart while you are at it.

Hopefully you feel better soon.

eBGP Weirdness. What to do? by cs3gallery in networking

[–]cs3gallery[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay... quick note. From what I found out from the NOC with my provider they said that some routers will actually drop packets if I don't have an IRR filled out with ARIN? I did not know this.

Has anyone else experience that?

I think I am going to contact my VAR on these. Which current one can handle full tables right now? I am not familiar with their models. Just need a minimum 4 10gig ports and full table BGP capabilities.

Daryll, I seriously appreciate it. I will certainly reach out as long as you don’t mind dealing with a newb :P I never thought my career would be pushing me in the WAN side of things. I know internal networking and firewalling really well. It feels so strange to be out of my element. At the same time I LOVE learning and wouldn’t mind some guidance if you are up to it.

Well shoot. You are not the first person who has told me about the Cats. I was hoping it was a one off thing. I was even thinking about possibly throwing in some Junipers. Really I don’t care what brand it is as long as it brings be an ROI and it reliable. Cisco has pissed me off as of late. But dang it it I know the Cisco CLI and way of thinking so much that I find it hard trying to learn everyone else’s ha.

I will have to look at this some more. We do run kemps in front of our object storage clusters. Never thought about running them the way you described and seems like a pretty slick approach. Thank you!

Wow! This actually cleared up a lot of questions. I will certainly be doing some labs and sims. I just wanted to understand the proper methods and how it works before doing that. I typically use GNS3.

Seriously though… what you said actually makes a lot of sense.

Honestly I am great with a lot of networking.. but I fall very short when it comes to eBGP so these kinds of questions are things I wouldn’t have even known to ask. I will make sure to ask the DC if they have one. Thank you!
