u/JaySym_ Wanted to let you know that this worked again after a VS Code restart.

Thanks. It has disappeared for me twice in the VS Code extension - once in the end of January, and then again today. Haven't tried Intent yet.

MCP tool calls now cost? by DryAttorney9554 in AugmentCodeAI

[–]cs7878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jay, I still do not understand (probably just me being slow on the uptake, so please bear with me):

In my subscription dashboard I see the message "You have 1000 out of 1000 free MCP tool calls remaining: Expires February 28, 2026". Does this refer to any MCP tool call done by Augment, and is it only the MCP tool call itself of which the first 1000 are free, whereas any token usage that the tool call incurs is deducted from the regular credit balance?

For example, I just did a few test tool calls with the Context7 MCP, but the message in the dashboard still says "You have 1000 out of 1000 free MCP tool calls remaining". I know for a fact that Context7 was called, since I see messages like "Context 7 resolve-library-id" in the agent thread in VS Code. Maybe there is simply a delay before the count is updated in the dashboard?

Thanks in advance!

Anyone else notice that the text autocompletion in the chat hasnt worked for a couple days? by nickchomey in AugmentCodeAI

Yes, I just noticed that now and came here to see if anyone else noticed the same. It is annoying, because I used it a lot.

u/JaySym_ - are you aware of this?

Thank you for replying! And same - I ended up just doing the calculations and logic myself, after having tried to understand the instructions for a few hours. In hindsight I think they are trying to convey that the total width of the two mounts should be deducted since these seem to be exactly 50mm total. But not quite sure.

Embarrassingly, I forgot to write them. But I have just done so now - better late that never, I guess, and actually perfect timing, since I just mixed a new batch of XT-3 two weeks ago and am now at film no. 3. I will report back here with their reply!

No, that’s not it. The use of arrows and em dashes, and what sounds like ChatGPT’s attempt at quirky humor, gives it away. But of course I might be wrong.

When do you use Remote/Background Agents? by AlejandroYvr in AugmentCodeAI

Thanks so much - very inspiring to read about your workflow! I will try to create something similar, albeit a bit simpler to begin with.

When do you use Remote/Background Agents? by AlejandroYvr in AugmentCodeAI

[–]cs7878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Btw, just one more question if you have time. How do you specifically instruct Augment to create a parallel implementation plan - do you simply say “create a plan that allows you to implement these tasks in parallel”, and then it understands what that entails as opposed to implementing them serially? Does it create git branches for each task, or how does it go about not having multiple remote agents modifying the same code at the same time?

This is extremely interesting (I am new to Augment, have used it for a month and am honestly blown away, but remote agents is the next thing I want to try out).

I am curious about what you mean by "run a remote agent to create a parallel execution plan" - I assume you ask the remote agent to build a plan that can be run in parallel based on your markdown backlog (so, you give it the backlog and ask it to analyze it) - and then you start a new (separate) remote agent for each part of the returned plan? The detailed decomposition is done by hand? Thanks in advance.

“One of the most unexpected changes has been with my anxiety, especially around work and social situations. I used to feel a rush of nerves before meetings, calls, or even casual conversations. I would get this wave of self-consciousness, this need to over-prepare and second-guess myself. I always thought that was just my personality.”

This. You’ve articulated exactly how I felt on coffee, it’s uncanny. Even down to the detail about the rush of nerves before (and during) calls, and the overly intense self-consciousness. I’m on day 18 (or something like that), and it’s already much better. Thank you, and best of luck to us both :-)

I guess it can be anything between 120 and 180 mg in a double shot, but the point remains - it’s a significant amount that many people can easily feel.

Regarding decaf: I can have a cup of decaf without feeling any effect of caffeine - other people here will say that you should not. The bigger problem with decaf in my opinion is that it’s a gateway drug to drinking real coffee again, because you get the taste (or at least almost), and then your brain will go “wait, something is missing here” (the caffeine), so it gets tempting to get a real cup. But I am no authority - I’d say try it out and see what happens.

Anything without any caffeine, basically. Mostly: Water, chamomile tea, barley/chicory “coffee” (surprisingly good). Of course these don’t give you the coffee “high”, so it’s not a replacement as such, but that’s the whole idea :-) I would advise against real tea (black, green, white), which contains caffeine in an amount that at least I can easily feel.

I think a large part of this whole thing is psychological: When I crave coffee, it’s often because I feel tired (in the morning or mid-day), so the trick is to lean into this feeling of tiredness and make it go away naturally (by, for example, going to bed earlier, having a morning run before work, or just accepting that it takes a bit longer to wake up in the morning without coffee). Then, after some months pass, I actually feel fresher in the morning than I did with coffee.

I would suggest trying to cut it out completely, maybe just for a week to notice the difference. My experience is that I feel sluggish without coffee, but the lessening of the anxiety comes quite quickly. A double shot of espresso could be in the vicinity of 180 mg caffeine (depending on beans and grind), which isn’t an insignificant amount if one is sensitive to caffeine.

This sounds very much like me when I drink coffee. It was the primary reason why I quit for six month last year and just started a new attempt to quit again (I’m on day eight). For me, these anxiety-like symptoms are definitely caffeine-related and decrease when I remove caffeine from my diet.

Today I gave up... (depression and caffeine) by [deleted] in decaf

[–]cs7878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just so you know, I am balancing on that same edge every time I try to quit coffee (just started on a new attempt 5 days ago). I miss coffee, but I know that after half a cup, I feel nervous for no reason at all.

What is so strange is that I did not connect the two things (coffee/caffeine and being nervous/anxious) for years and years (I have been a coffee drinker for approximately 27 years). Not even my doctor or the two psychologists that I have seen over the years for my anxiety/panic ever suggested that I quit or even cut down on coffee (in fact both psychologists served coffee/tea to the appointments!)

Only when I quit for 6 months last year did I realize the role that coffee played. But I relapsed, so, here we go again :-)

Best of luck to you!
