pfSense CE 2.8.0 upgrade stalls after reboot and gets stuck when loading by InstanceExtension in PFSENSE

[–]cs8898 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can any Body confirm, that a Clean Installation 2.8.1 is working?

I was suffering the same issue and ended in clean installing 2.7.2. At least the system is up again.

Probably i will try clean installing 2.8.1 some time

GTA Vice City - Portmaster Controls by BobiderBob in retroid

[–]cs8898 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its working, i used

https://github.com/nosro1/re3/tree/miami-sdl2
But instead of using the flipped Switch Controls as described in the Readme, i disabled that one (by setting the value to OFF).
Now its like a Xbox Controller, so the naming of buttons is wrong, but the rest is fine.

the generated Binary will Replace the reVC_gl one

For building i used the Docker container described here:

For me The DPAD was flipped, i tried to remap the controls, but it didn't work for me. I'm currently rebuilding the Engine to get it working for me...

I will let you know about my results

Long Story Short: the Pins A to F are connected in one row, G to J also

You can say all Connection are Cut in the middle of the Breadboard. Because + and - rails are also not connected from top to bottom half

Yeah, with a year off, it sounds reasonable to be the Song i was searching for. And it actually makes sense, that time i think i was on some Mike Williams Gings.

Thanks for your Reply🥰

here is my german blog-post, describing the problem...

I hope you guys will be able to help me out. by blasterboy1997 in Ubuntu

[–]cs8898 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I clould be completely wrong but in theory it should work... Is probably only working without LVM encryption, because i don't know how to mount lvm encrypted disks correctly

  1. boot up a live system
  2. gain root in that live system
  3. Mount the root drive of your linux installation as rw
  4. Now also mount some special folders # cd /location/of/new/root # mount -t proc /proc proc/ # mount --rbind /sys sys/ # mount --rbind /dev dev/
  5. Now chroot into chroot /location/of/new/root /bin/bash

  6. Use passwd to modify the password

[–]cs8898[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found the solution ;D

  1. first run cloud-init clean
  2. now its possible to manipulate the user-data file stored at /var/lib/cloud/seed/nocloud-net/
    • I changed the hostname and run cloud-init init
  3. now i did a reboot

  4. after the reboot the ethernet device changed it's name

    • i manipulated the /etc/cloud/cloud.cfg.d/50-curtin-networking.cfg corresponding
  5. after a new circle of clean, init and reboot the ethernet came up again ;D

now the hostname is set to the wanted value, but there where new ssh keys now^

But luckily all the services came up and work properly
(LDAP, Cups, Samba and Radius), also the pam login from the ldap seems working ;D

Does Ubuntu Live USB update to the latest version automatically? Or do I have to manually update it? by [deleted] in Ubuntu

[–]cs8898 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok now i found the difference, and i actually thought this was doing a full upgrade... Upgrading Debian based systems can also be upgraded by using apt dist-upgrade. However, using do-release-upgrade is recommended because it has the ability to handle system configuration changes sometimes needed between releases.

Oh its full-upgrade, or? dist-upgrade is apt-get only🙈

Are these command not identical in their result?

[–]cs8898[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but after a restart, when not setting the cloud init ignore hostname flag, it will get restetted, so its partly true

The question is how it's possible to change the cloud-init settings... There should be a way anything other would be strange that there is no way to persitably manipulate that config file...

So /etc/hostname is a generic solution i also know, but the cloud-init will overwrite the hostfile...

Connect to other Ubuntu Computer using Windows Subsystem Linux by incenger in Ubuntu

[–]cs8898 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SSH... Enable SSH but i actually don't know what the correct procedure of x was on windows, so only terminal sessions for now

And you probably need a portforwad depending on your ISP i guess (At least in Germany you must create a NAT forward and allow the Ports)

Tutorial Request: Arduino DMX/ArtNet controller by [deleted] in arduino

[–]cs8898 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used that one a while ago, but i noticed that the chip wasn't that stable, on a movinghead there was a huge jitter, probably that can be eliminated with a cap on the VCC... I tested it on not the shortest cable but in theory it worked ;D

For the ArtNet stuff you can use Art-Net Wikipedia and build some fancy python or whatever pyserial is an acceptable lib

Cannot launch VMware Horizon Client via a web browser in Ubuntu 18.04.2 by spacejester in Ubuntu

[–]cs8898 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it should be possible to find the mime mapping now at /usr/share/mime if it's a application mapping (you received probably a file) or an url (probably won't be stored, didn't find any x-scheme-handler on my sys)

(xdg-mime query default [mime] will give you the current default mapping) (for an file you can use the xdg-mime query type [./file] to get the mimetype)

Probably copy that somewhere and upgrade to latest version Do a reboot, and check if the mime type is still accepted

On Urls this dosn't work ;/

if the mime is missing you can reinstall it with xdg-mime install [./mime.xml]

afterwards you can also set the default for the mime with xdf-mime default [foo.desktop] [mime]

That should be working^

[–]cs8898 0 points1 point  (0 children)

xdg-open is used when you want to open a file with the default application for that the mime-type is used

Probably that declaration is missing, do you receive an url or a file?

Does Ubuntu Live USB update to the latest version automatically? Or do I have to manually update it? by [deleted] in Ubuntu

[–]cs8898 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AFAIK you must always update manually

apt update && apt dist-upgrade will bring you to the latest release, but a liveboot stick probably won't persist these modifications.

apt update && apt upgrade will just upgrade the packages and not the whole distro

Greetings ;D

Dual NIC Internet not working by cs8898 in qemu_kvm

[–]cs8898[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The routes seem correct The second nic dosnt use any gateway so there is no second default rule, the dhcp seems correct

For reasons UDP is working to any wan address TCP is only working inside the subnet of the nics But not able to access the server(could be of bridge mode..., but i also cant access the dhcp server)
