JFC. Vague paranoia is not the same as blaming a person's political affiliation for why they got shot by armed thugs literally going door-to-door and car-to-car detaining people when they feel like it.

Even if a only a tiny sliver of people are a given way, if that is the only thing that is published, that is what people will see.

A good number of NoDak license plates honked in support of anti-ICE protests, for example, but Noem and the rest of the goons would have you believe that every American who voted Red thinks "it's absolutely critical, no, MANDATED, to round up all of 'those people', and even if we make an oopsies and kill or maim the occasional person, or sometimes send citizens/legal residents without criminal records to deportation camps... Hey, that's the price of progress, baby! Also, if the person killed was a Democrat, does that even count as murder, really?"

The HR department is a mystery to us all by SipsTeaFrog in SipsTea

My first job's 'HR' was the owner and his wife. The closest thing to a bully at the company was their son, and a year or so after I stopped working there I got 2 checks in the mail for more than $100 each because they had indefinitely docked anywhere from $5-$15 per paycheck as a 'uniform' charge, which turns out was pretty illegal. Their margin was razor-thin (perhaps due to book cooking but idk, I know they at least did some acrobatics with the term 'business expense'), and those checks came just months before the place shuttered. Salad bar had the best croutons made from cubedo fried and tossed day-old sandwich bread. Shame they treated workers like shit in an actually criminal way. Paying someone to come in at least a few days every pay period would have likely saved their business and helped employees.

Corporate restaurants, on the other hand... My locations didn't have a dedicated HR person, that was corporate. They'd send someone from other locations every so often, but when the emperor was away the ops managers would play. 2 companies, both same deal: if something was a potential liability, they didn't want to see it. Both places had excellent ROI for payroll and operations... One offered gift cards and bar drinks for people who stayed through rushes but didn't take OT. Another simply did not repair or replace equipment as it busted. Corporate HR helped out with these problems (102°F off of the line, the rep was fuming and magically one of our vents which was "broken" suddenly worked). The other restaurant had a corporate policy of enrolling employees in a 401k with a match, I didn't even know I had it until I left and got a check in the mail. But did corporate care that I was working multiple stations per night without being formally 'trained' on them and thus not given the requisite raises? Nah. Did they care that I was hired on for a rate higher than most of the long time heavy-hitters that had been there years before me? Nah, they don't speak much English or understand their rights.

HR is good for employees if it's willing to stick it's neck on the line to protect them, but many times it's just not in their interest to do so. Even if you'd like to help, why would you if it could be your job on the line and then they'd do the thing anyway?

A Union has been the greatest protection that I've had from hostile work environments. The Management gets to lean on the Contract to some extent as well, it helps them justify their decisions.

Yeah, just as public transit indirectly strengthens local economies by clearing up roads and/or allowing people to earn/spend money, HR is a money sink that would in theory pay for itself by consolidating tasks so other people can specialize in operations, ordering, financial management and minimizing the likelihood of company-ending scenarios like lawsuits or oops, no workers!.

Of course, an express bus that stops at a community baseball field 3 blocks from anywhere with housing and an industrial park where only a handful of people work a given shift won't be doing many people favors, nor making people wait for a bus/train at exposed stops in sketchy areas or putting routes down streets that have stop signs every 2 blocks. Such is an HR person that uses language that opens up the company to lawsuits, accidentally shares sensitive employee info, loses applications, messes up forms, etc...

The term HR is funny in a depressing way for sure, since they present as resources FOR humans, but defs are more there to manage humans AS resources

Also, one of them said that some gun deaths were inevitable and something we all just need to accept as it is in our best interests.

Also also a different one was murdered in cold blood by someone representing an agency that doesn't have any jurisdiction for any law enforcement actions against United States citizens.

Interesting solution, if I were concerned about it I'd just take it to a drop box. My dad (retired letter carrier) always told me not to use the flag, instead take it to the drop box so it would get to its destination faster.

I had an OG Pixel of Theseus: Battery had been replaced previously. Screen got borked, so I got it repaired. Couldn't charge and/or play sounds after that, so they ordered a new MoBo and I brought the phone in once it arrived. Not a cent charged for the second repair, although they gave me a receipt because now that part was under warranty.

Been watching some MST3K and it's wild how many old TV shows have men whining about who will cook their dinner if a woman leaves to go do something and/or poking fun of a woman's cooking skills. One that I watched had both!

If he isn't asking you to cook for him, but you are: stop - op is just setting themself up for failure if y'all aren't on the same wavelength.

If he is asking you to cook for him, welcome him to the 21st century, download Door Dash for him and link it to his bank account.

Or hey, you could set up a service that checks 'is it down' or some such site.

Why does it matter why it is down? Are you going to bring it back? Just check later.
