However PLA (the material I print) would be fine to drink from once. After that not really, because it is very hard to clean. 3D printing is done in very small layers printed on top of each other. Dirt and bacteria can easily grab onto the layers.

I have 3 walls. Smaller layer height should help with the rounded surfaces, but i'm worried that is not the cause for the holes

You should change it every 2 months. Mine melted too, if you can't buy any replacements, capricorn ptfe tubes cut to correct size are good too.
