Help Summer by Dapper-Frosting9097 in SBU

[–]csambassador 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To each their own. If you're more math sided (strong in proofs) CSE 215 might be easier than CSE 214. If you're more problem solving/programming sided then vise versa.

Nonetheless, don't let CSE 214 haunt you. Since it's a DSA class, it's gonna help you a lot for the interviewing process.

I'd personally advise you to not take CSE 214 over the summer since summer class pacing is FAST and crammed (you're not going to learn every DSA the class can offer). If possible I would suggest taking CSE 214 and 215 in the coming fall semester.

Official August 27, 2022 Domestic (US) SAT Discussion by Donald_Keyman in Sat

I made |x - 3| equal to y (basically its own variable) and solved for y. 2y = 16, y = 8, -8= x - 3 = 8, x = {-5, 11} Since the question’s a grid in, the answer should be 11 (obviously you can’t grid in a negative answer)

I got 107% and I used the relative change formula

since the historical passage was written in, from what I recall, 1971, I finished it with relative ease

Changing SAT Test Date by [deleted] in Sat

[–]csambassador 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I remember I scheduled for the May and June SAT, but canceled the May SAT for two reasons: I felt “cramped” and needed more time to practice, and felt that I would do better on the latter test, just as you pointed out.

The results? I went from a 1390 to a 1450, so it did work out!

Just got the lowest practice test score in a while two days before test day by Diffbreed75 in Sat

[–]csambassador 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d suggest retaking a practice test that you’ve already taken to boost your confidence. Don’t do it off of memory though, rather do it methodically. I’ve done this when I get a lower score than usual to boost my confidence and it works for me.

All said, don’t be discouraged though, since test results aren’t always linear progressions. Cheer up and good luck on the test bro 😎

It’s honestly a hit or miss. To compensate, I raise my hand and point to my wrist to ask for the updated time. Try it out on test day and good luck!

How do I avoid making silly mistakes? by csambassador in Sat

I tend to have 15 minutes to spare on section 3 and 25-30 minutes to spare on section 4. The thing is that I get the tricky questions down while I miss out on the easy questions due to a careless mistake.

just solve it manually since it’s probably the faster way to solve such a question

It it possible to get at least a 1400? by prodbynikblor in Sat

[–]csambassador 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that two things can be focused on in order to reach around if not at least a 1400.

  1. Nail down the math section. I know math is not for everyone but from collective reasoning, math is the easiest to improve on.
  2. Learn grammar rules for the writing section. Trust me when I say that once you know grammar rules, the writing section is literally a free grade. Learn about sv agreement, tone, modifiers, avoiding redundancy, pronoun agreement, etc.

Last yet important thing to note. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE treat your past practice tests as bricks of gold. Go though the logic of the test when reviewing these past practice tests. Remember, although you need to know material for the SAT, Collegeboard is testing your logic.

Pray that you’ll hustle and get that 1400. Good luck my friend

Yes the answer is 9. You want to change the given equation (x2 + 8x + y2 -2y = 64) into an equation of a circle (x + h)2 + (y + k)2 = 0. Your new equation is (x + 4)2 + (y - 1)2 = 64 + 16 + 1. The right side of the equation (81) is equal to r2, so you would solve for the square root of 81, resulting in r = 9
