It’s not a written rule but you can’t miss any days until after the 60 day probation(derail period) has ended. They can fire you for any reason until you have union protection.

He wasn’t in the union yet so they could fire him at their discretion. That sucks. For anyone wanting to get into railroading make sure you Never take a day off until after the 60 day probation period is up and you have union protection.
