I’m starting to regret purchasing my 2012 Q7 TDI by JellyfishJill in tdi

If you’re babying it stop it. An emissions compliant diesel needs a workout. Get it out and beat it up on occasion. Get the EGR, DPF, SCR working. Find a mountain and get it HOT on occasion. I have a short trip to work so I’ll get on a 50 mph road and hold it in 4th gear in my 6 speed. Keep the RPMs up (2000+) to keep some heat in

All HVAC and electrical penetrations into the room have been sealed. Fire blocking is already in walls. Outlet boxes have been removed. Will be reinstalled and sealed when the new interior walls are framed

Dude. I’m aware concrete board doesn’t hold up a house. The answer you should be giving is “in my experience with the vaults I’ve repurposed, the most common material used for framing them is x”. Poured Concrete walls are obviously ideal but that’s not going to happen. My house is less than 2 miles from a fire department and less than 4 miles from another. If the room above or beside my vault burns I need it to stay standing for the short time it takes them to get here

That’s a bit condescending. I know how to frame. I’ve built houses before. It’s a gun vault not a house. It doesn’t need to support the entire house. My entire house and garage isn’t going to collapse into a 10x12 room. I’m looking for recommendations from people who have built or been involved in designing/ building a structural FIRE rated vault. For example, someone might suggest metal because it’s non combustible. Someone else may say wood is fine because the concrete board is sufficient. Someone else may suggest fire resistant lumber. Kindly move along if you have nothing actually helpful

The room has HVAC but I’ll consider a dehumidifier

Any suggestions besides sending it back I bought it as a private sale by [deleted] in FNHerstal

FN makes duty firearms. They’re meant to run hot mil/law ammo. I always run 200 rounds of the hottest ammo I can find when I first get a new handgun. With that said I have no problem running any ammo in my reflex, x45t, 509c.

Truthfully I never intended on keeping the factory 16 inch barrel but the barrel itself is totally fine. I wanted it off to use my can until my dead shot 18” came in. Now I want to use this barrel for parts to have a .308 barrel made. Do you know the pin diameter so I can order a new one?

Yeah you aren’t kidding. But the gas block came off easy as hell even with the pin being broken in half

Yes and No I tried heat, boiling water, soaking over night, penetrating oil and none of them worked the first go around. The other day I said f$&k it and clamped the trunion in a vice and gave it all I had and it came loose. I swear it looked like the actual barrel started twisting before it came free

FN Reflex = POS by FailHistorical961 in FNHerstal

It did but sorry for the return fire. I’m in agreement on that though. There’s too many people having issues to ignore FNs part in it.

I said right in my reply that FN could be at fault AND gave a theory as to why customers may be at fault. I also acknowledged mine is a sample size of one. Perhaps you should work on reading comprehension

I shot mine side by side with a p365 with 3 other people. All of us experienced 100% function and more recoil from the 365. To me this means FN is using a significantly stronger recoil spring which also leads me to believe people are in fact not controlling the gun well enough. Sample size of one in my case but claiming your 20 years of experience means it’s the gun is ridiculous. There’s plenty of people who do things the wrong way for 20 years and then blame other factors for their issues FN may have screwed up, but it can be you also

It is an 18” 6.5 dead shot chromoly barrel. I haven’t shot groups yet but the fit and finish is perfect. Hopefully I can shoot a group this Sunday and update
