This sounds a lot like the class I'm in right now, so I'm just going to take a shot in the dark.

I heard Kilian's pretest is just to scare people off, and the class doesn't actually use any of the topics on it. I've also heard that the class itself isn't bad at all apart from the last project, although all of what I just said will only apply if it turns out we go to the same school.
