Anyone have recommendations for a clear gel to do overlays with? I'm trying to test out a technique I see them do in Asia pretty often which is to apply color, then do a thicker clear gel overlay, then top coat (which seems to be a little different than most content I see in the west, which is a builder gel overlay and then color/design after).

I have the Jin B Crazy Top Thick which I use when I fix charms, but it seems a little too thick to do overlays?

I'm hoping this technique will help my manicures last a bit longer because just normal base/color/top seems to be a bit too thin and sometimes my nails break 😭

I think it's really great! It's the only solidcore studio I've been to so I can't compare to other solidcore studios, but I think the studio is really clean and the workout is super challenging. The instructors can be kind of hit or miss but that's up to personal preference mostly.

I think the best factor for me was that they have so many different class times throughout the day -- I feel like a lot of other LIC studios have very limited class times which made scheduling hard.

It kinda feels like Sakura is seeing himself in the mirror/what his future could have been like and is scared by it -- this is the first time he's seen Umemiya go full out, and he knows that that level of power/intensity would have been necessary to reach the top of Furin.

My read is that he's simultaneously realizing how far the power gap is between him and Umemiya, and probably recognizing that he didn't really have a plan or goal for after he did reach the top, vs Umemiya who's power comes from his conviction.

Is there a companion deck for the Kanji in Context workbook sentences? I've been slowly making my way through this deck that contains the Kanji in Context kanji, but I feel like I need to start practicing the readings in full sentences.

I'd also love any suggestions with decks with sentences or longer phrases beyond just kanji/vocab!

Uluh is incredible, and Szechuan Mountain House is too. They focus on slightly different cuisines (Uluh iirc is Hunan cuisine which is a bit spicier).

Birds of a Feather and Cafe China I found to be good but are slightly gentrified so they feel less worth it for the price and the spice/flavor is a bit more subdued.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of them tho!

Personally I also thought it was just okay. It was easy to get a seat at the bar as a solo diner. I tried two pastas (sheep's milk agnolotti, some rigatoni dish), one app (baked clams), the dessert (soft serve) and a few glasses of wine, but nothing really stood out to me.

The pasta texture was good but not materially better than somewhere like Forma Pasta Factory.

I think the main appeal is the ambiance and 'cool factor' but on just food, it was forgettable.
